Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters - restoration help
Snagged a dedicated Escape machine at a local auction - didn't have a read on working status so picked it up on a flyer thinking it might become a mame cabinet. turns out it's in pretty good shape, so now i'm in restoration mode. this is my first go at this, and I had a couple of questions I was hoping you guys could help me out with (that i couldn't easily find solved elsewhere in the forums)
Bottom cabinet speaker - top speaker is fine, bottom speaker cabinet foam completely disintegrated. Model is B20EU90-51F - 8ohm. looks like a.pio 8" speaker. Can't seem to find an equivalent model that might work - would like to buy new given it's typically short money. Any ideas of something that would fit the bill here?
Hall Effect Joysticks - I now am discovering these are pretty tough to come by since they were only used on a few machines - anyone have experience with these? I did a full disassembly of both sticks (they were "crunchy" to say the least and wouldn't return to center), and after a few hrs of intense cleaning plus some fresh lithium grease, I'd say they are in acceptable working condition with some spring back to center. I'd love to find replacement springs for the internals, but it's not a deal breaker. Pulled it into the test mode, and one of the Hall effect sticks seems to be varying in the read at dead center - not a ton, but definitely enough to register outside of the dead zone...ay idea if this a cleaning issue with the sensor itself, a magnet issue, or something else? Also, can/should I try to clean anything on the Hall effect sensor? Other than a little compressed air, I was hesitant to touch it.
Power cord protector plate - looks like the back of the machine would have had some sort of grate/fitting in the hole where the cord comes out. I've tried to search for some sort of similar part but coming up short. Any ideas?
Thanks so much!
