Error in pinout for Boomer Rang'r (aka Genesis) by Data East / DECO
There is an error in the pinout posted in various places around the net, including:
http://www.arcade-museum.com/pinouts-game/7190.html
and,
http://www.crazykong.com/pins/BomberRangr.pin.txt
The error relates to the video ground, sync, and green signals (VID GND, SYNC, and VID GN). The above pinouts show them to be on pins D, E & F respectively. I just got finished fixing a legit Data East Boomer Rang'r PCB and those are wrong.
- VID GND (ground) is actually common to the other GND pins (A, B, C, 1, 2, 3).
- SYNC is actually on pin D.
- VID GN (green) is actually on pin E.
- 6, 7, F & H are non connected (well.. 6 to F & 7 to H, but not to anywhere on the PCB)
Unfortunately, no schematics seem to exist for this game, so online pinouts is the best people have to rely on when testing/wiring/repairing these boards. I know the subject pinouts will probably never get corrected, so hopefully someone in the future will be able to find this post if they're having a problem wiring up this particular game.
And for the record, the only thing wrong with the PCB was a broken trace (gouged) on the bottom board.
