error code -11 Silent scope 2

Thanks, I wrote the tech support. They haven't gotten back with me yet. Here is what it's doing now. It boots up and says cpu ok and everything else it checks it says ok then the next screen it goes to is all black. Thats when it says hardware error code -11. Then after that the screen goes to multi color fuzzy screen...

Any ideas before tech support gets back with me?

Nope sorry first time I booted mine up the cpu came off in shipping and I was like oh shit...on boot up I got the multi color fuzzy... thought it was messed up and then it booted. However once in a great while mine will quit and reboot and just keep cycling the reboot till you kill power and start. Personally I am kind of pissed that the errors are not listed in the manual... I really hope konami emails you back. Love that game and hope I don't have any problems like you are, good luck.

Well I got through to a place in new jersey that is the konami repair center and he stated that an rtc chip was needing to be replaced and then the board was going to have to be reprogrammed. Said it would cost $300 to $350 bucks.
That sound right to any of you following this little saga or are they trying to milk me?

WTF?

Unless they have a different acronym for it, RTC is a Real Time Clock, and replacing/reprogramming it shouldn't be a $300 to $350 raping.

Have you found the chip on the board?

Silent Scope EX has one of those silly Dallas Semiconductor Timekeeper chips on it. Maybe yours has that too. The MAME dumps have the NVRAM contents for the EX but not the SS 2 game.

If there's no other source for it you are screwed.

Hi, even if this post is fairly old - have you been able to fix this ? channelmaniac seems to have a busy life reprogramming NVRAM chips that went bad :) I have the exact same problem on the SS2 board. all board-checks are ok (roms/dsp) but it fails with this error. any help?

@channelmaniac: are you able to burn me the sscope2 nvram on a M48T58Y-70PC1 to check if that fixes my board ? I see that current mame contains the code but am not sure about the quality of it.

Not sure yet. Another member sent me his Racing Jam board that had a similar problem. I programmed the RTC with the code in the MAME dumps and when he receives it he'll test and report back.

If it works, WOOHOO... If not, there's a guy in France that can supposedly reprogram it. Now if they can do the SS2, I'm not sure. The folks over on the arcadeotaku forums know who it is. I'll ask if the RJ board still doesn't work.

Did this ever go anywhere? Based on what little info there seems to be on these boards, I presume there needs to be some pre-populated data in the NVRAM before the board will boot, is that right?

seems to be so... like the viper board - the same mess with the M48T58 NVRAM chip that contains some little bits necessary to get the board up and running. I would offer the content of my NVRAM of SS2 but it's also screwed up and hangs with 'HARDWARE ERROR(-11P)'... thanks Konami - you killed another one of my boards, you bastards...

Ah well i am a new member of the 'HARDWARE ERROR(-11P)' club. I will mail Konami and see what they recommand.

I have a 27 error on mine which points to RAM, but I found another reference online that mentions that error comes up when there are problems with the rtc as well, and require re-flashing after work is done. Looks like there is a pretty fair amount of people wanting this done!

Konami repair (the NJ location mentioned earlier) says they bill at $99/hr but couldn't give me an estimate for the whole job.

ok, but re-flashing what exactly ? I socketed my NVRAM chip during the weekend - it took my just some minutes - and re-flashed my M48T58 with the code from mame but still get the -11P so what went additionally bad during time ? I also mailed benson and they were directly asking for my credit-card to be able to charge whatever they intend to do... come on guys, what about a little help for fellowers that just like to have their old boards going again and are able to do the job theirself (which is for guys like me half of the fun of the project) but struggle with these non-sense, non-documented error-codes.

No, they are not jerking your chain. Yes, that is the correct price. Yes, that is how they roll. I don't blame them at all, and I think it's reasonable considering all things going on in the industry.

No I didn't want to pay that much- who would, but we're talking about outdated equipment. Some day soon they won't even offer the service. How much will it be worth then? I hope someone else figures it out for $10 a pop- and I bet Betson does too!

Craig (www.giz10p.co.uk) can fix it. He charges £100 for the job + shipping both ways. Problem is that you have to send the complete cage and it cost an arm if you re not located in the uk.

that's already good if someone can fix it... I'm just personally interested WHAT has to be fixed or synced to get that working again... so if anybody knows and likes to share that... please go ahead :)
