eprom burner recommendations?

I have that eraser, works fine. I have had it for about a year.

A EPROM eraser is nothing more than a UV light bulb with a timer. So, it will work just fine.

It says:

Close and set the timer - anywhere from between 1minute and 1 hour

How do you know how long to set the timer for? And how do you know they are properly erased when done?

Also, does anyone know where to get those silver EPROM window stickers like came on a lot of EPROMs in original game boards?

Every type and brand of EPROM takes a different amount of time to erase, If you let them go too long in the eraser they will be ruined for good. I usually start with 10 minutes and the try to blank check them in the programmer, if they don't pass blank check, I stick them the eraser for another 10min. Repeat until they pass the blank check.

BTW I ended up picking up a GQ-4X and I'm happy with it. It didn't work worth a damn on my vista laptop, but I have an XP laptop that it works like a charm on. Dunno if the install was wonky or if it has issues with Vista, or if it's just my laptop which has other issues anyway. Either way, good little programmer, I dig it.

True USB EPROM chip Burner Programmer GQ-4x

I bought one of these off Ebay and after I made a power adapter to use with it for the 25v chips, it has been FLAWLESS! Cheap too! I bought it from the seller: mcumall_electronics_inc

It has burned everything I have thrown at, quickly and with no errors so far.

I just bit the bullet and ordered the GQ-4X from mcu mall. What is required for this power adapter you speak of ? Be nice if it was just an old 30 volt printer power supply or something as i got a box full of these things.

I use a 24v power adapter with mine and it works fine.

Make sure you get an EPROM eraser!

I did order the el cheapo uv eraser from them as well.Should be fine for me.This thing is gonna get a workout when it arrives as i have 28 crazy climber roms to burn, then it will sit unloved til something else comes along.

I would try to reinstall on Vista. I think I bought mine before I upgraded to win7, but I can't remember for sure. If you are still having problems with it, check the forums at MCUMall. They are fairly responsive to requests.
