Has anyone here ever dealt with the EPAY User "mab2ndhand"? Location: MI Name: Marcia

Last week, ZFCAMARO had me bid on a Tetris Kit (Auction number: 260488545281). I bidded the minimum $39.99 and was not really sold on getting the game. I let ZF know if I was outbid I would not rebid.

The Seller had it previously listed and it did not sell and dropped the price.. Might have been more than once but it has been there awhile we think...

Anyways - I get outbid which is no biggie and I move on - 2 hours before the Auction ends I get an email stating that the Seller cancelled the current High Bidder and now I am the High Bidder?!?! WTF, I think.. 2 hours and then I can't even cancel my bid cause of the short time.. (Reason listed for cancellation of the high bidder was that they contacted Seller and said they did not have the money... WTF!!)

SO - I am thinking this person is SHELL Bidding and does not want to pay the fees and decides that the loss fees is just not worth it and will let it go for the $39.99 that they had it for and just move on...

Any Thoughts??? I Already informed the Seller and she stated she would open a non-paying disbuted which I am going to argue to the nine hells with EPAY over since there seems to be shenangans...

maybe the person that outbid you removed his bid. not sure that really qualifies for shell bidding since the price didn't go up and auction ended at your original 39.99 bid?

does seem a little weird though

The next high bidder may have had poor (non-paying) feedback or no feedback at all, so the seller canceled it.

I sold a car on ebay and did the same thing. I wasn't about to risk all the eBay fees trying to honor an auction with a bad buyer.

If you bid and you won, get it. Seems simple enough to me. It was sold for the price you bid. Not sure what the problem is other than you have buyers remorse, which isn't the seller's fault.

You can only cancel your bid if you made a mistake such as put in $8888 when you meant $88.88 or the Seller revised the auction significantly or you cant reach the seller when you send emails it comes back undeliverable...

To me it is SHELL bidding.. If I enter an amount, and the seller has someone bid up the auction.. And then the Seller retracts the high bidder amount to see what my high bid was then has a third account to raise it up before my max amount...

Besides... I think it is BS that ebay allows it without giving me the chance to back out of my bid.. I already moved on once I was outbid.. Imagine if it was high dollar stuff such as cars and I bidded on a car and got outbid and then I bidded on another and got outbid and then a third which I won and the other 2 cars they cancelled all bids until they got to me - I would be screwed....

Not buyers remorse since I already moved on when I got outbid.. Low ratings, poor feedback, lack of funds is not my problem.. That should have been seller when he set the auction up.. If an item does not get paid for the seller can offer it to the next highest bidder but the auction is still current and the High Bidder was canceled 2 hours before auction ends..

It would be like going to a Super Auction and you are there bidding on a Ms Pac and it went beyond your bid and you walk away to another side of the auction where they are Auctioning MegaTouchs and the guy for the Ms Pac tells auctionneer "Hey I cant pay for this" and the auctionneer says - Hey that guy that walked over there bidding on the Megatouch is on the hook for this Ms Pac.. Going Once, Twice SOLD... HUH!!!

aaaa... yeah, that is exactly how it works. what dont you understand? the other bidder did not raise your buying price that you "bidded". so whats the problem?

and its shill bidding not shell bidding.

It seems like you could say that once you were outbid, you purchased an alternative from another source.

dont think it was shill bidding as the bidder actually has better feedback than the seller. (BTW, correct auction number is 260588545281). Either take it at your bid, or tell the seller that you moved on to a different board when you were outbid. The fact that she agreed to cancel the other bid with 2.5 hours to go was her decision (It was cancelled by the seller, not retracted by the bidder), the high bid stood for almost 3 days prior to that

Sorry about the spelling "Shell" vs "Shill"..

Now I know why people don't like to deal with EPAY but in over 300 Transactions I never had an issue like this.

Thanks JeffC -

That is exactly what happened. It baffles me how the others think it is buyers remorse or that they don't see why I am angry. People should not be expected to wait after being outbid in fear that someone could have their bid canceled 2 hours before the end of auction just cause they tell the seller they can't pay.

It kills me that the Seller let the guy that outbid me slide when they said they did not have the money. When I attempted to do retract my bid - Nothing and the Seller was in contact with me via emails before the auction ended.

The Seller did provide me the User name of the Bidder that backed out: CarlUrbansky so if anyone knows this guy from Apollo PA (Dont see him on vaps).

I see your point that you could have been screwed if you got outbid, moved onto buying the item somewhere else, but you didn't.

You ended up winning the auction for your original bid amount but you just don't want it anymore. lol

I think that's why somebody said you had buyers remorse.

If I'm outbid on something, and the seller cancels the higher bid, I'm sorry but I'm no longer obligated to make that purchase.
Ebay should have a system in place to ASK the previous bidder if they still wish to retain their bid, when this happens.

I'm not waiting around till auctions end, if there another one ending soon and I was outbid on the first one.

No buyer remorse, OP is well within his rights to be pissed off, and if the seller isn't willing to cancel his bid...take the hit, he can't neg you as a buyer anyway, and he can f**k his hat.

My philosophy right there. Sometimes I will be on a limited budget and bidding on several cabs/pcbs in succession as I get outbid beyond my maximum on one. I don't want to think how far in the hole I would be if someone pulled out on one I thought I lost as I won another and I ended up having to buy two 300 dollar cabs at once, plus shipping! Once you're outbid, you're morally out of contract in my mind's eye.

Well.. Wasnt so much that I didn't want it anymore as I bought something else that the money went toward..

While I had the money also for the board, the way it went down and trying to balance buying the stuff this past week with the Wife (I know a lot of you all have been in my place over that), caused a lot of frustration an anger.

And like I stated before - I worried it was "Shill" bidded..

FINAL Resolution though.. Seller Cancelled the transaction - I am off the hook..

I don't like being on the Hook for things - I know I am new here. You guys are way better than the Google Pinball Group. A friend of mine asked me, "Why do Pinball Guys act like they are in a Corvette Club and treat all the Arcade Guys like they are in a Ford Pinto Club?" So that is why when I originally posted - I wanted to know if you guys have dealt with the Seller or the guy that Bid against me to know if they were in the up and up... But it is over now and I look forward to learning from you vets out there as I go along...

Glad it all worked out! Most sellers WILL let ypu off the hook in bizarre cases like that, glad to know the one in question was no exception. Glad to have on you on the KLOV Krew.
