I just downloaded BPWSoft-03 Windows: released on October 1, 2003, is the most current version of BP Windows software.
This software supports the following models: EP-1, PLD-1100, PLD-1128, EP-1132, EP-1140, CP-1128.

This is my first attempt to learn about eproms and programing I can't figure out how to do it, nor can I find any instructions to tell me how.

I can read an eprom but my uv eraser is not here yet I can't figure out how to write o's to the chip so I can reprogram with out the light, not a big deal the light will be here in a few days but would like to know,
Most importantly I want to know how to compare my read to those found in mame so I can fix my corrupted files. I have no clue how. Worst case I can just blank them all and reprogram but I'd like to compare files if I can find out how.

You can't just write zeroes...thats what the light is for. If you have EEproms, "electrically eraseable" roms, those you can erase with the burner, but normal eproms that we use the most need to be erased with the UV light.

As for comparing...there's a couple ways, but easiest is to load the image in BPW, put the rom in the burner, and just use the "verify" option. That does no writing, it just compares the image to whats on the rom.

Other ways would be to get a hex editor, read a rom to a file, then compare that file to a known-good rom image.

All correct, but to be really picky -- the EPROM programmer sets any bit to 0, and the UV light is used to revert every bit on the entire chip to 1. An erased chip would read with every byte equal to $FF (every bit set to 1).
