Working on a JP with a staggering amount of splices, hacks and more than the usual op shenanigans. Why would you want to remove the insulation from all 4 wires going to the EOS switches? What possible troubleshooting could they have done with that?

When it comes to op fixes, you never know. My Time Machine came from an op with a slow returning slingshot. The C-clip was missing and it had lost the spring tension. Instead of installing another clip, he put grease on it. WTF?

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of stuff ops/people have done to the equipment.
Time for a sticky on what not to do pinball machines. And document all the pictures.

No telling where their mind was at or what they were thinking.

There might have been a reason, they might have lacked any sense or skill to do things right.

And you may not want to know their logic involved at that moment.

I had a T2 once with a couple hundred feet of red wire running all through it. I didn't even want to know why or what for. I just cut it all out and then set about getting the game back to factory specs.

LTG :)

Hey Lloyd, from my T2 hack, I can bet the red wire was their "fix" for a burnt GI connector. Why replace the connector when you can run wire in series directly from the board to the bulb. :)

What makes a person splice a wire three times in less than a foot? Had about ten wires spiced together in a stargate machine I bought. Wires were just twisted together. Drives me nuts!

Another hack I just saw on a Williams Diner there was a bad battery. They cut out just the one battery section and cut up another holder and affixed this one in.

The RFM I just acquired had all of the EOS switch wires desoldered and taped with blue painters tape.

Not quite sure what to make of that yet. My understanding is that the software will emulate the EOS switches if they are not there, so I don't have to worry about the coils, but still very weird.
