Hi All,

Due to a rogue landlord and the City of Beacon, NY I have been forced to close the Retro Arcade Museum. After 18 months of operation it seems that the city has decided to enforce an arcane law banning pinball arcades.

I am selling virtually all of my games as a lot -- no individual games. If you are interested you can see the entire list at: http://retroarcademuseum.com/Collection.html

I also have a huge collection of vintage consoles and handhelds ('72 - '87), lighting system, etc. Please contact me if you are a serious buyer and are ready to move the machines quickly.

Thank You All

Thanks to everyone for the very kind words. At least I had the privilege and wonderful memories of sharing it for a while. It was a dream come true, not just for me, for a time.

Wow, that is one amazing collection. I really wanted to go see that. Hopefully someone will buy it and put it on display somewhere else. Good luck to you Fred.

Is this the collection that was just showcased in GameRoom magazine? That's just nuts.

This makes my blood boil. And I thought Detroit local gov't was a mess. WTF is wrong with people..... Please tell me this is some kind of joke!

Dam man!
that sucks something fierce! :mad::mad::mad:

I wish I had to $$ to buy that up and open the museum myself (whats that about a dollar and a dream ;) )

I'd like to go pull the stick out of that guys ass.... so I could beat him senseless with it!

Yes it is and this just has completely bummed me out. I was hoping to visit you up there someday, guess not now huh... Wish I had the dough I'd snap up everything you have but alas I don't. Sure wish I could get my hands on your Desert Fox but I understand you want to sell the stuff as a lot.

Beacon, NY is an incorporated City with their own statutes. That is the law. Nothing to do with NYC pinball law. Call Beacon City Hall if you think this is bullshit.

I thought that law had been repealed in the 70s.This reeks of bullshit.

law?

why not challenge the purpose, and goal of the law with the city

get cust. survey cards, video of day to day ops
show the old goats that there nothing going on there like they are afraid of and claim to be protecting the public from.
(the old lines are that there is drugs , prostitutes, gambling, underage drinking, school skipping, pot smoking going on)

Wow... that really sucks! Looks like you've got a really sweet set up there, I'd hate to see it go.

BTW, if anyone wants to contact the city, it looks like all the info is on their site: http://www.cityofbeacon.org/departments . Who knows if it'd do any good, but in a small city, several people contacting them may at least bring the issue up, and they may realize it's a ridiculous law... maybe give you a temporary permit to stay until they hold a hearing on it... and maybe they'd get rid of the dumb law. I'd guess it's not a very commonly enforced law, so I wouldn't be surprized if it's still in place because nobody has brought the issue up.

Good luck with the fight or the sale.

But he said "Rogue Landlord" seems to me the landlord is the real culprit and just used the city statutes as a hammer. He must have other plans for his building...
