The honeymoon's over...

I've been having some problems with my EMP20 and Fairchild NMC27C32Q eproms... it just won't program them.

It will blank check them, verify they're blank... but when I go to program them it shows the programming window for about a second, then comes back with an error that the buffer is showing (for example) 03 and the chip has FF... ... um, it's a blank chip. It's SUPPOSED to have FF!

Why it is verifying the code before it's done burning and why isn't it burning correctly?

I put in an Hitachi 2732, changed the device type, and it programs perfectly. But it just doesn't like those Fairchild NMC27C32Qs... I tried about 20 of them, same results for every one of them.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't see that device on the supported list for your programmer. I'm just guessing that has something to do with it not working.

Figured it would burn and check at the same as the other Fairchild 27C32's. Any idea what would be causing it to behave like it is? It's sad that I had no issues with these chips with my Willem, but the good burner isn't liking them. lol

I would suggest pulling both datasheets and reading up on the programming specs to see what is different between the B that is supported and your Q that is not listed on the supported parts. Maybe there is some difference that you can compensate for with an adaptor or something.

Try selecting National 27C32Q.

Ugggggg... ... yeah, that did it. lol

Thank you. I was getting PISSED yesterday about this too. The silkscreen it worn off so I could just make out the part numbers... noticed Fairchild first (alphabetical order in the program)... and assumed it was just a different version of their chip.

Now, I'm pretty certain of two things... I'm an idiot, and these are Nationals.

Thank you again. :)
