Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with emdkay.net when it comes to ordering repos.

I am looking to buy some mini marquees for my Neo Geo but have heard some not so great things about the site, like it taking a month to get your order.

It seems like a no-go, unlike a neo-geo.
I've seen them supporting a ponzi scheme and poor service.

I bought about 6 mini marquees from them. It took a lot longer than I had hoped it would; however I got them and they looked great. The Magical Drop 3 was really dark and the colors were off; but it was better than a blank panel. I do not think they would screw you but you have to make sure that you are not in any rush.

no personel experinece with Emd but with any "custom printing"
its not going to happen overnight no matter where you go
have you tried emailing them to see what an estimated timeframe would be?

sometimes I can turn custom printed marquees in a few days other times
depending on current workload and how much work the graphic may need
to get the best print quailty maybe longer.

Id imagine this is true of all the top inkjetters out there
Game ON Graphix, arcade Overlays, and EMD none of which have ever been reported
not to deliver.

Photo paper and an inkjet printer work wonders when it comes to mini marquees...

Just make sure to get the photo paper WITHOUT the text on the back.

yep.. shit service, and vindictive negative feedback. do not want.

There are other options, but my experience with emdkay was fine. Took a few weeks for a printed marquee.

Sounds like he's a weekend warrior.

Well, just to weigh in here- I ordered a marquee from them about a month and a half ago and did not know there was negative feedback until now (looked at other thread). It took them a little over a month to ship it out to me, but it was exactly what I ordered and looks fantastic (I opted for the 1/8 plexy mount). So other than the wait I would say I am pretty satisfied...

In fact, I ordered another one about 2 weeks ago and just got the notice that it is about to ship.

So I guess your mileage may vary...

I purchased about 4 mini marquees from emdkay last december or so. They emailed me after I placed my order (within a week) to let me know it would take quite a bit longer than usual for the marquees and whether I wanted to wait or get a refund.

I chose to wait, and sure enough it took until March when I got the marquees. They did arrive safely and the marquees, although very dark (super saturated), when backlit they look nice. I don't regret buying them since for me the marquees i purchased were ones I couldn't find originals for, but I definitely prefer the originals over the reprints.

And if you don't have the mini marquees backlit I would just print photo paper prints of them, but having them backlit, the emdkay one's are much better.

Just my experience with them.

Just an update: I received my second order from EMDKAY and it was the incorrect size, even though I carefully left instructions in the order (how can you mess up 6-1/2 inches?).

The shipping box was torn apart and the packaging was horrible.

After several email exchanges with Brent, he is unwilling to do anything until I send the bad one back. He states that he is unconcerned with any forums, feedback, or what people think and does not care about the money...

I told him I would send him back the bad one once I received the correct one undamaged.

This was a no-go for him and he got real defensive and rude.

I have initiated a PayPal claim.

What a terrible way to run a business. Believe me, I have ordered many things over the years and this is horrible.

Stay clear of EMDKAY!

I ordered a custom size marquee for my 3/5th size Galaga MAME cabinet in early 2010 and had no issues. My turnaround time from uploading the image and placing the order until the marquee was in hand was less than a week. Originally I was going to get it printed locally but I got in the middle of a time crunch and decided to go with emdkay.net. I always received prompt responses to my e-mails before doing business with them and during the process. It was the only printer (at the time) I found online that would print at a custom size and didn't have a taboo about printing Galaga art.

Looks like a lot has changed with them in two years.

As a side note, can anyone recommend a printer that will print me a replacement CPO for this project? Size is scaled down from a full size cabinet and it'll be new original artwork as the art this game came with has a nasty gouge in it.

Rich at this old game would probably do it for you. He made a repro Jungle King marquee on glass for me and it looks great. He already had added a few layers of triple thick or some other protective coating on the back.

Shipped to me in practically an iron clad box!

I used to recommend EMD but after a number of posts here about issues with them I can not do so any longer. I use Gameongrafix and This Old Game for the most part...

Yeah, after reading about the more recent comments and occurrences I think I'll remove emdkay off my recommended list.
