Quick question - are there EM folks who are still using brass coil sleeves on the older EM pins (or other EM games), or does everybody generally stick with the newer plastic ones?

I recently picked up a bunch of EM pinball parts that I'm going through, and have a big bag full of various brass coil sleeves. Not sure whether they're worth trying to sell, vs. trashing if nobody uses them any more given the potential issues (metal shavings and such). My gameroom is a complete, hot mess right now with all these parts scattered around, so I'm looking to chunk anything that's not worth fooling with ASAP.

I've also got a bunch of older EM coils with brass sleeves integrated into them, so I'm guessing some folks are still using these?

Insight appreciated!

I don't know anyone preferring the old brass sleeves.

Plastic sleeves function well. Cheap and easy to replace and are available.

Yes - all metal in my EMs AFAIK. Even my brand new/NOS EM coils come with them. It is not just a choice, it is a necessity for these older games. They perform/wear differently for some reason - not sure of the reason. Metal and metal is just better on these older games, I think the newer ones have plastic tips on the plungers which is why plastic works there.

Source: I own 21 EM pinball machines, and 4 solid-state pinball machines.

some of the more odd coil sizes are only available in brass/metal if you can find them at all

some of odd ones i have seen were on switch banks and drop target banks, i am sure some one would want & could use your bag of sleeves to keep their machines going, iirc, steve young buys nos parts and would probably be interested in your lot

contact pbr and see what they have to say
