Hey guys, I have a elvis pinball that stopped working. The op said the battery busted on the board? I thought these newer boards didn't have batteries?

Yeah, Whitestar does use batteries.

Busted? What exactly does he mean by busted? The game will boot and play if the batteries are dead or missing. So I assume he means the batteries leaked?

If the batteries leaked, the damage, and difficulty in repairing the damage, could range from minor to significant. Depends on the amount of leakage and how long it's been going on.

Got any more info on exactly what he meant by busted? How 'bout some pictures of the battery area of the board?

Ishould have been more clear, sorry. He took the board and said that the batteries had leaked. It powered up but would not start a game. I was really surprised to learn that it used aa batteries. I was under the impression newer boards used a different, safer battery.

The Whitestar hardware was a platform that Stern got with the Data East\Sega purchase, so it dates back a few years. When Stern bought Sega pinball, he continued to use the hardware, as it already existed, while designing the new hardware platform (the SAM system).

That's why your Elvis still has the AA batteries instead of the button cell used today!
