I have an intriguing inquiry to make. I'm aware of perhaps 10 known instances of an eliminator 4 player cabinet. My figures could be off. But someone out there knows what the production numbers were on these cabinets. Where have they all disappeared to? It's appauling. Every Eliminator boardset is capable of 4 player. All were lacking is the cabinet.
In any event, what kind of interest is out there for a 4 player Eliminator reproduction cabinet? Who would be up for one? Would it be possible to get a donor cabinet transported for CNC measurements by it's owner?
My thinking may not be clear to some, however in my mind, it's not about extinction being the driving force of worth. It's about preservation of history, and we can preserve this for our children to enjoy just as we had.
Thoughts? Action?

One has to wonder though.. if it's about preservation of video game history, why wouldn't emulation driving a vector monitor suffice?

I'm not trying to argue against, I think building a cabinet is a great idea, just seems that you need a LOT of unique parts, so would need a donor to copy.

Thanks for the link to the pic. In any event, after doing some further checking, this may not happen after all. In order to get the true dimensions and parts of the cabinet programmed into memory of a CNC machine, apparently the cabinet would have to be disassembled. I'm not aware of anyone with a 4 player eliminator cabinet willing to have it become a sacrificial lamb, unless it were a total dog of a cabinet.

a board mounts outside the cage. I want to say its an interface board. There is a pic of it in this thread. It probably could be hand made, but its unique to 4 player.

I saw in the flesh TWO units...they were brand new at Eastern Music Duistributing warehouse where they put stuff that didn;t sell, etc...neither worked....I bought one for $100 and got it working, BUT it was so big it wouldn;t fit in most doorways...ended up needing the monitor, and it was junked...the other one went down with Eastern's building when that warehouse was demolished (we are going back to 1985 here, when NO ONE wanted these games)....Todd from TNT Amusements

So I gathered that someone was working on autocad'ing some cabinet dimensions? Has this actually gone anywhere?
I'd love to build one but without appropriate dimensions, it'd be pretty Frankenstonian.
Both I and DPTwiz got smacked around the last time it was proposed we get some dimensions. So has anyone picked up the ball and ran with it?
How close is it to completion?

I'd think you'd need to worry more about control panels than building a replica cabinet. And the monitor and the boardset. What parts do you have and what would you need besides the cabinet? Not trying to flame, I think it's an interesting idea.

the game is on that multi sega board, no big deal there. I'd adapt and use a 6100 itstead of a G-08. Control panel is pretty simple, if i had one i could have a bunch cnc plasma cut locally. The cabinet, well... i really have to be in possesion of one to reproduce it faithfully. I have a Joust cocktail coming in less than two weeks, that's the next one i'll be doing in quantity. Limited edition more or less, once i have one done, i'll take orders on for 10 days then it's limited to just who ordered.

You know I've actually given this some serious thought, and I am so through waiting until I have all the parts. So if I could get me a cabinet, dude I'd slap a pc in there and mame away. Just my two cents. The foundation of it is the cabinet.

My point was.. with this one, I'd think it's more the artwork, cps, and to a lesser extent, a cabinet build holding you back. With Quantum, the art will eventually be reproduced, but the boardset being in short supply will be the hold up for anyone to just build a replica without breaking the bank..

Well my thoughts were I have to start somewhere. And currently I have nothing to do with any Eliminator at all. So I start with a cabinet, then as I come across art or panels, I have somewhere to put them or otherwise assemble them into something. But I detest the assumption that just because I don't have everything right now, that I should sit on my hands and do nothing.
My plan isn't to wait and see, but to work towards the objective and alternate solutions. As the man said, anything is possible, you just have to set your mind to it.
Now I was brought to understand that someone was working away on autocad of the dimensions. And I haven't heard anything about that in a long while. I was curious how that progress was working out.
