Good call on you, bad call from your buddy lolNot for me, a buddy of mine has a an EA board he wants to convert to alpine ski, my EA is staying put, lol!
No one knows? Would like to find a definitive answer on this. Also following since I think if I remember, picked up 1 good and 1 bad pcb. Or maybe it was 2 jungle kings or something, probably was drunk when I bought it thinking i needed one. I think the qix/zk is different enough of a platform pcb that it wouldn't work with those generation pcbs
So reviving an old thread here... It just so happened that a friend of mine had a spare EA board that he wanted to see if it could be converted to Alpine Ski. I thought I would have a crack and see if it was as simple as a ROM swap. Doesn't appear so unfortunately... I removed all of the BA3 (EA EPROM's) as well as the CPU daughter board (not needed for Alpine Ski) and replaced them with the ROM set from alpine.zip. Looks like there is probably something else going on here that is required. All I know about this system-16 page http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=634
But so both the EA and AS are on the SJ list for the Z-80 platform, but that doesn't mean it's just a rom drop-in. I never researched (yet) beyond that myself, so figured I'd follow. But maybe I answered my own question now as well, since both EA and AS (and JH/JK) look about identical
