I have a Qix that had worked perfectly for a few months. I went to install a NiCad battery and started seeing the following weirdness:
When I turn the game on, the vertical hold is ALWAYS messed up. Doesn't matter how I had it set before, it's wrong by about the same amount each time.
If I run the self-test on Qix, I'll get to the one test that shows all the colors on the screen. There will be long black lines running down the screen at a slight angle. If I adjust the vertical hold, everything is fine.
However, it seems crazy that I would have to do this each time, because the vertical hold is a physical pot or dial, or whatever it's called, on the monitor itself.
Any ideas on what is going on with it or how to troubleshoot it?
