I currently have one on my bench. I replaced two drive transistors, and the associated power resistors. I also did the cap kit and reflowed several joints on the board. What generally causes the driver transistors to blow? Now, I need to test it.. There is a 3 pin input... Looking at the way its connected, and the fact that it blows a gfci when I turn on my variac...Does this use balanced power? If so.. I have no way to test this.

Which model G08 do you have?
Which drive transistors did you replace and what was the numbers?
I hope you didn't use the transistors that come in the cap kit, they wont work. I never understood why they even bother putting them in the kits.
If you haven't seen this before read it. It answers many questions about this monitor.

The only way to test this monitor is in a SEGA G-80 game or with a special XY signal generator.
Chad at ArcadeCup use to work on them but I just looked at his site and it looks like he no longer works on them.

Its the GO8 003.. I did read the Faq, and had Bob R substitute the correct transistors (2N6529) in the Kit. Two of the 2N6529 were dead (one wasnt a 2N6529, but might have been an NTE). Im going to have to shove it into the game at the owners house to test it.
