I bought a cap kit for this monitor but the transister are not the same. The board and schematic say the transister should be 2N6259 but in the cap kit I have, has 2N3716 inn it. Is this correct or is there some thing wrong here.

Thanks

The 2N6259s are over $7 each. You can ohm out the connectors to see if they're still good. Not a 100% foolproof test, but it will reveal shorts. Note that sometimes there is a 100 ohm resistor AT the transistor socket, giving some odd readings.

Jenison may have listed a newer, alternate transistor for the assembly. I recall a listing where somebody found newer, better, cheaper replacement transistors, but not sure if the power ones were included.

Make sure the transistors in the deflection circuitry on the PCB do not have their heat sinks touching. That will surely fry things.

Confirming that you have good signal (oscilloscope?) is healthy for the monitor too. If you can hear the game playing, that's a good sign. I wouldn't hook up the monitor without confirming that.

Yeah, I believe the recommended replacement is a MJ15024 . It's a few bucks cheaper at least.

DO NOT put in the 2N3716's, they will last about 90 seconds and take lots of other parts out with them. The 2N6259's are the best if you can locate them, but they will not be cheap. Just unscrew them and check them with a meter out of circuit, it only takes a few minutes more and you can verify if they are indeed bad. You can also check to make sure that there is enough heat sink compound... i have some 2N6259's if you get into a bind.
