Hi guys,

I was dealing with a G07 in HV shutdown. Removing X701 got the monitor on so I knew it was in the power section.

I took out the C1106 "voltage regulator" fr X04 and tested it and it read as two diodes which I have seen before in dead transistors, fine.

I had a spare old NEC C1106 from a G07 presumably, and since I kept it around I figured it worked, so I tested it and it was recognized as an NPN with reasonable parameters. Put this one in and still HV shutdown.

I decided to order some new old stock 2SC1106 (manufacturer Signetics I think), and it measured nearly identical to the last C1106. To my surprise, this new one worked fine in the G07.

So I just think it's odd the old C1106 tested fine but failed under load. Thought I should leave this info here in case someone else is struggling with the power section and a supposedly working X04. Since 2SC1106 and variants are still around and not expensive, you might as well just swap it out!

This isn't super rare for bottle caps. I've never seen it in anything but a 3055, but it's fairly common with those

Just had a similar experience with some 3716,3792, and 3055 in an Asteroids. Old ones tested fine, but didn't work under load. Put in new ones and everything works.
