I have a Electrohome G05 that fades out after and 20 seconds.

Replaced the Xistors, Any other ideas?

Did cap kit and reflowed solder joints. It comes on and stays nice and bright for about 30 seconds, then slowly fades away. After it is gone for a while, it then comes back before fading away again. Aggravating.

What game is this? Atari? If so, are the coin door lights fading out and in with the monitor?

Make sure the fuses in the transformer brick are not dirty or corroded and are making good contact, in fact, just put new ones in, also might need a new big blue.

Yeah thats a possibility, could be a bad fuse or the transformer going open. I'd also check the molex connector for loose pins, particularly the 'z' signal I think.

Also, see if the neck glow coincides with the fade - if so its a heater problem, and should be fairly easy to figure out and fix. If not, then it could be something on the board.

Remember with vectors the heater voltage comes directly from the power brick in the game, not the monitor chassis or fryback.

I was helping Pacray, and yes the neck glow coincided with the monitor fade.

Sweet should be a somwhat easy fix then, unless its the tube or tube socket.

Put simply, the vectors are wierd in that they get the 6v heater voltage directly from the power brick. If you look at the schematic you'll see which wires they are. Basically comes from the power brick, goes through a fuse, goes through wiring to monitor plug, then through the monitor plug and the chassis to the tube itself.

I'd start by finding which fuse it is and cleaning it up, then check that molex plug on the monitor connector for loose or burnt pins, then from there check for cold solder points on the chassis, especially if you haven't already since the vector monitors are prone to them, especially on the molexes right on the board itself.

When it goes out you should be able to test for voltage (I forget if its ac or dc) at the fuse to see if its the power brick itself.
