My asteroids deluxe monitor won't display a picture. The game runs with complete sound and I can play blindly. The power supply is good and the monitor has power, the orange light is on at the end of the yolk. I looked at the deflection Amp PCB and the spot killer light isn't on, and two of the 5amp fuses where blown. I then replaced them with the correct 5amp fuses and they blew as soon as I powered it up. What is my next step?

Should I buy a cap kit GO5-802 19" B&W X-Y w xsistors and also a set of 6800uf50volt radials. I know this kit comes with a HV Caps also. So Would I replace the HV PCB caps also or just the deflection PCB?

I would rather not have to pull the entire monitor out and discharge it to work on the HV PCB if I don't need to. Also what are the chances that I would have to replace the HV diode when and if I needed to cap the HV PCB

Or is there something else I can do that I haven't looked at?

Thanks for the help!!!

What are your X and Y voltages?

You can test the voltages coming from the game board. It won't hurt to ensure they're in range. I was working with a 15v2000 that blew fuses on power up. It wasn't those though, it was the 2 Amp ones toward the bottom. My large resistors were fried - I think they were R100 and R101. Anyway, with the monitor I had, it was recommended that you just remove them and jumper the traces. I stopped blowing fuses, but then I had the spotkiller... because my game voltages were too high. The game voltages being too high fried those resistors.

Anyway, there's a test lug for the x and y at the top of the PCB. Test for DC voltage with your positive lead on the lug and the negative lead on the ground lug. While the game is on, these will fluctuate and should be within + or - 4VDC. There are others that might disagree with this, but I knew mine were off with this test because the voltages would hold steady at 13-14 volts and I had a game board issue.

Just something to check.

I had two one in Battlezone one in Asteroids Deluxe I recapped both and neither worked till I changed the HV diods. Once I did that they worked great, I got my kits with the HV from Real Bob
