I guess I'm guilty of having Tron fever just like everyone else. After reading of the recent tragedy with the Recognizer neon fiasco (and watching Saturday Supercade) I started thinking about how cool it actually would be to have some sort of neon-like Recognizer wall art.

What about using EL wire? I'm hoping someone can let me know if they have experience with it and if it can make tight enough angles to be used for this kind of project. They have sequencers available to allow off/on effects also.

If someone's already answered this question I apologize for bringing this up again!

Thanks! Kevin

Yep, entirely do-able. In fact, if Brett would program in and cut me a sweet recognizer on a 4x4' sheet of plywood, I could have it painted and wired within 2 weeks for a prototype. The bends and sharp angles are no problem, provided you have a nice crisp channel to lay the wire into. Here are two 4 foot tall signs I did earlier in the year:

hmmm could be
was working on a file to send him for a custom key holder.
that I was going to inlay with el wire as well.
so Ill work up a 2nd file of just the reconizer to be scaled out.
stay tooned..

Yeah, that would be sweet. Wonder what shipping on a 4x4' hunk of 3/4" plywood would be? Parcel Post shouldn't be too bad. $20 tops I would say, prolly more like $13.

Awesome! Ok i need the details ... You router the channel and lay the wire in? Also where did you get the wire from? Any hints? Sounds like a "How To" thread is needed ....
