Eight Ball Project - Playfield swap - questions/advice

Been working on my Eight Ball project for a little while. Finished all the cabinet work including new paint and hardware. Next step is to swap the old playfield out and put my CPR reproduction playfield in. I have completed the top side.

As I'm getting ready to tackle the bottom side, a few questions come to mind.

1) Do I run all new GI wire (obviously following the paths on the old playfield or do I pull the old and reuse? Seems like it would be faster to run new.

2) Is there one method to use versus another that seems to work well most of the time even for a beginner regardless of the playfield? Start with the mechanical stuff; lights, etc?

3)Lastly, any words of advice from those of you that may have done a few of these swaps?

Thanks for your shared knowledge.

Phil

Personally I would run new gi wiring so that you can have the original playfield there to compare to. Likewise with any other parts/switches if you can afford it.

Run new 18 gauge stranded tinned wire for the general illumination. Staple in place with 1/4" long flat staples.

you need to do a search on rec.games.pinball. This has been covered quite a bit, and it's all about personal preference. I have a couple of swaps to tackle someday. I plan on running new wire for any that is stapled down, the bus/ground. If I ever do a KISS pf swap (mine is junk), I will also replace all of the sockets. Do as much as you need to do.
