Hello,

Kind of new with this, but did convert a neo-geo from CGA/EGA to VGA using a $35 RGB/CGA/EGA/YUV to VGA Arcade HD Converter board. Seemed simple enough. My next project is giving me problems though. I did the same steps, but with the Hydro Thunder the screen becomes increasingly redish/pink and within about 10 minutes is completely washed out. It starts out looking like it should though. Was reading up and heard that these converter boards are very finicky to voltage. I am feeding it exactly 5 volts.

Was hoping one of you Gurus can help me out. The video is coming off of an EGA connection on the PC and in to some type of daughter board that was hooked up to the CRT. I took the video outputs from the board connected then to the harness that connects to the board. It starts out great, but then something goes wrong. Any and all guidance is appreciated.

Try setting your Clamp St to 3 and Clamp Sp to 4 (in the converter menu) and that should take care of your problem - I had your same exact issue.

JigZ - Thanks!

Worked like a champ. Looking forward to a kick ass LCD screen based stand-up Hydro Thunder! Thanks!

I'd imagine a Gonbes GBS-8200 or GBS-8220 (basically the same thing except the 8220 has two VGA outputs instead of one.)

Thanks.

I am guessing he probably went with the Hanns-G 28" 16:10 LCD that seems to be a popular replacement for most 25" games.

I may look into this myself.

Yeah, I actually have a Hanns-G 28" that I've tested the converter with a bit. If you are going the route he did (squeezing the image in to fit inside the bezel) it should work quite well.

Can someone explain why this specific monitor? Is there some other monitor that would work instead as it's no longer readily available.

Thanks!

Just tossing this out there, but Probably because it fits well inside the cab. And / OR it may work well with the GBS-8220 when running EGA. (my Guess is it fits better)
