Thanks for the reply!
Well, at first I tried running it off of an older IBM laptop with celeron processor that has a parallel port because this unit (allmax+) has both options for a card or port. I don't have the card, so I have to use the parallel port.
I can get it to communicate, but not fully. It will respond to commands as I can see LEDs change and hear relays clicking when I make actions. However, it wont pass hardware tests etc. on the laptop. In either full DOS mode (use a boot cd), or in windows XP (tried with NT driver). I had it somewhat working in win on the laptop where it passed all hardware tests and even read a chip correctly verified by romident, but that was only for a moment. I have played around with parallel port settings all day long and can't get back to that point. Even then the whole time it has had programming issues where it will lock up during programming at 53%.
In full DOS mode, I had less luck where it is faster, but cannot get it to pass any hardware tests and as a result no programming or reading is correct.
I tried it on a different PC, a newer one in fact built in 06' with a duo core that seemed to run it a lot better in DOS. It passed all hardware tests. However, when I went to program a chip it would program ok, but never pass verification. Closest to correct operation I have had yet aside from the successful read on the laptop in win. I don't know if something is interfering with the connection or what. I wish I had a straight verified example to set all the port settings to. Another note is that it allowed operation on a different port address that wouldn't work on the laptop.
In such variations between attempts, I have to believe there is a shotty communication issue going on. The cable was working when I used it on a printer and has sat ever since, so it's likely it's fine. I would love to be able to adjust a freq. or similar to put it in a better range if that's the case. Any suggestions?
This programmer has awesome capability when running correctly. Does every chip known to man and even checks ICs like ram etc. for troubleshooting. I really want this to work out.
