What would be a safe estimate for replacement value on an EDOT? My girl and I are getting ready to consolidate all of our insurance and I want to have a realistic idea of what I'd have to pay on the "open market". I looked through a bunch of threads and the prices were anywhere varied greatly. I have a general idea of what the rest of my games would cost to replace, but this one is tricky.

thanks for any input

I'll get some taken in the next coupla days...it's buried in moving boxes on one side right now.....it was fully working a few months back, when I tried it the other day i just got a white screen and a thrum, hasn'tt been moved since working so I'll figure it out. Cosmetically speaking it just OK, no floor art, sideart has normal wear and tear, one small hole(1"X3" maybe?)....If i were to grade it i'd say I'd give it a "C".

I'd probably want one at least as nice if I were to lose this one in a fire or something tragic....what would be the ceiling on replacement? For one in say mint condition....

only pic i could find, sad I know......I'll have to check my phone and see if I can find some good pics from my last get together when the gameroom wasn't filled with boxes. Shameful, I know.....but it's protected at least.

Do you like the warthog sitting there on top of that box? It's a snarly son of a bitch, the monkeys(can't really see them but they're there) sitting next to it are even more creepy looking, they're snarling and look rabid.

I'm gonna spend tomorrow cleaning my gameroom back out, time to reclaim my space! I'll post some good pics in the next coupla days.

I'll chime in with my .02...

it's really tough to say because of so many factors.. location, condition, and local market.. as well as how much this would take at auction given the shipping charges.

I have personally seen guys that told me they would pay 2K for a non-working EDOT cab that had it's art in decent shape.. but then again, some would never pay that.. and I've also heard that in the past few years there's a guy in hawaii that will over-pay for any EDOT cabs (perhaps someone here has more info on this) and that has created a superficial higher market than is really there (how many $4-5K cabs can this guy buy, really?)..

I'd guess at about $2,500 in the condition you mention, perhaps a little more.. after all the EDOT is one of the most desirable games for most peoples collections.. if they have the room for it.

Hope this helps some! :)

thx for the input.....I'm starting to do mass video documentation of everything I own(collectibles etc.....) for insurance purposes. Been doing alot of research about it and it seems the best way to protect yourself and your assets is to document everything on video as well as finding comps etc. The insurance companies tend to shaft you on "contents", rarely will you get true replacement value(or anything close to that) without having proof of condition and actual ownership of the items you claim. I'm getting all my ducks in a row as they say......

I'd advise all you to do the same, I've read some horror stories

WOW.....after reading through a couple of hours worth of EDOT related posts I'm half tempted to throw this thing on the E-bay...........I could probably buy the better part of my "elite 8" with the proceeds. This game is cool and all but I'm the only one that ever plays it when I have company, some linked up Daytona's would be a real crowd pleaser to say the least. Hmmm, something to mull over.

If someone where to offer me 4k I don't think I could resist....LOL

I always said I'd never sell this when I bought it, but the possibilities are quite intriguing..........trade off 1 grail and gain quite alot of the "elite 8"

Quick, someone call Hawaii and set it up............the rest of you get busy figuring out whose gonna sell me the Daytona's, Paperboy and cocktail T&F

:)

IMO the game is worth $2500 - $3500 depending on how complete it is (ie. does it have the backglass, etc) and whether or not it's 100% functional. If you're up for a crazy road trip, drive it to Orlando and I'll pay you $2000 cash for the game as it sits and GIVE you a restored T&F cocktail AND a paperboy with a nice no burn medium res monitor.

:)

I was responding too TimothyC's offer there Khabbi....sorry, I shoulda been more specific.

I know, I was kidding around... if you start talking about a EDOT for sale, even not serious, watch out for the pm's from everywhere lol...

I've VERY happy with my Upright DOT, it's an awesome game with an amazing cab, I just need to get everything running and stable with a new pcb... then it will ALL be good.

I think I remember a seeing a thread where a couple of people were talking about shipping games from IL. to FLA, maybe we could all get together and work something out, break up the cost or something.

I hadn't really planned on selling the EDOT when I started the thread, but the temptation of two of my personal "grails" and maybe the possibilty of the filling out the better part of my "elite 8" with the proceeds of a sale are quite tempting.

It might a be road trip from hell........certainly an adventure if something were to get hashed out. I've been itching to get outta this cornfield lately, a epic trip like that might cure me permanently....lol.

video documetary?

Just don't trade away one of your games unless it is to me :D, even if you don't have it yet.

I would say, it depends on how much other stuff you own. If you are someone who collects very little, and has an apartment decorated sparsely, Insure it higher than the going market value. They will only pay you about 80% of what its valued at so if you want the entire value back better insure it for 3K to get its actual value of 2500(which is what I would guess). If you have a houseful of collectibles, insure it at the actual amount. You'll probably only get like 60% the value of everything if it all went up in smoke, but at least you wouldn't have to pay as high a premium. Hopefully that logic makes sense. The more you own the less you have to settle for. The less you own, the more you know exactly what each thing is worth.

Thanks for the advice. the bare apartment days are long behind me now. I have massive amounts of collectibles that I'm going through one box at a time, probably be at it for the couple of weeks. 60-80% doesn't sound that good, I hope to God I never have to make a claim, hopefully I'll be able to document(receipts and video) everything fairly thoroughly in case something happens. I keep almost every receipt I've ever gotten(for collectibles etc...), sorting through them is going to be a nightmare.

thx again

I would have jumped on this offer in a heartbeat if it weren't for the shipping issue....
