EDOT Video Tour, with gameplay and fluorescent bulb tally!

Over the Labor Day weekend, I completed the nine-month restoration of my environmental Discs of Tron. (If you want the gory details, you can read about it here.) In celebration, I offer you the Environmental Discs of Tron Video Tour! It includes a walk-around, explanation of the features that make EDOT so awesome, a peek at the hardware, and some gameplay footage.

Watch it here, or from the videos page on my website. Enjoy!

Most excellent restoration job and you should be very proud. You do excellent work. Also, great job on the video, nicely edited. I'm wondering what camera and software you used to make it. It was very entertaining and interesting.

Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work,

Bill Boucher

Thank you very much, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was shot on a Canon 60D, mostly with an L-series 24-105mm lens. I just edited it with iMovie on my wife's Macbook Pro. I'm more of a PC guy, but Apple does have a knack for making things easy.

i was honestly waiting for the "HEY GUYSSSS WE ARE IN THE ARCADDDEEE" when the vid started....
I don't think I can match John's enthusiasm :) His videos are what originally inspired me to shoot a couple of my own.

Awesome video!! Makes me want mine done asap! Beautiful job on the cab. Its gotta be the coolest looking machine I have ever seen.

Great Vid... My favorite part outside of the dings from the massive amount of fluorescents being show is when you were in the middle of playing and you wanted to knock him off at 9:27 you said "Come On!". Best part of any of these cabinets for the most part is the game play. Incredible looking machine.

I always wondered what all the hype was about with these until I played on at PAPA this year. The environmental aspect is just really really cool. Great job on the restore!!!!!

I talk back to my games quite a bit, and I was trying to minimize it for the video, but sometimes it just comes out :D

Yeah hey who doesn't, although usually mines filled with vulgar language sometimes unintentional racist slurs. "Don't judge me monkey!" - Grandma's Boy.

The game usually always wins at some point. Every once in a while you get the euphoric feeling when it say's : "Player one great score, Enter your initials!".. or something along those lines.

And I must suck at this game....cause I can't even get to the levels with the moving platforms
What level do they start doing that!?

Yup! Right after posting that thread I went in and played a game....got to it! Also got to where u can hit ur discs off the ceiling...I didn't know u could do that! Sweet! Now I'm addicted....

Wow what a nice game! I'd love to see it in person. Thanks for sharing the vid, never seen the gameplay before. Beautiful job on the resto...congrats

Just so you know, when I sell that million-dollar screenplay, I'm going to make you an offer you can't refuse for that unit and you'll have to restore another. So I hope you kept good notes. (And in fact it appears you did!) :)
