Here is my spinner knob afer cleaning. As you can see it is still faded and brown in areas. How do you restore this back to a nice solid black? Thanks for any advice...

your pictures aren't showing up for me for some reason. I was going to compare it to the pictures I emailed you.

My TRON had 30 years of pizza/people grease on the spinner. I soaked in a mix of about 70/30 simple green/water for about 30 min. The gunk just fell off. However, it left the knob with a greyish/whitish tinge. I had to use several passes of Back to Black. It's still not pure black, but close enough. I suppose if I gave it a few more passes, it would be back to normal.

i dont know why they arent showing up...i re took the pics...hope they show up here...
Also...what is "back to black"? and where do i get it? thanks!

I thought I had some before/after pics of my spinner, but I guess not. Back to Black can be found at most auto parts stores. It's used to polish/rejuvinate bumpers and plastic trim.

my spinner top looks a little different I think. Are you sure that's an authentic dot spinner top?

I honestly don't remember. I had 2 of them and I think they both looked like this:
pictures below

here is a link to the control panel on klov (too small to see I think though)

Nope your old EDOT had/has a spinner just like his pic shows

thanks for confirming. So whatever this 'knob' is that I have is not a stock dot then. It looks a little more angled, etc.

thanks Dan

Someone gave me a sample from someone who did a metal reproduction of these, so apparently there are some reproductions out there.

Could it be an Arcadeshop repro? I say try that black stuff, if that doesn't work, you could try that Krylon plastic black spray paint or order one of Arcadeshop's repros?

yeah mine looks virtually exactly like that one.
looks like a repro

i thought about spray paint...but am afraid that it would rub and chip off from constantly touching it...that krylon plastic paint stand up to that kind of abuse?

That is an old Oscar controls DOT repro spinner knob.

I guess huh? My Walmart carries it
..but currently out of stock. I soaked it in glass cleaner for awhile and it seems yo be staying black...still some "dirt" in the grooves...but gonna soak again to see if it takes care of it. If not I will get the back to black...

hey vader for the record if you still want my spinner, let me know.

I was never going to try to get top dollar for it, and now that I see arcadeshop sells it for $19 plus shipping, I'd sell it for $13 shipped if you are interested.

good luck, your machine is looking UNREAL!

nice work bro

OK I will let u know. I will see how it look once installed on the cpo and in place. But that might be awhile as TOG has no eta on when the cpo or floorpan will be completed yet.
