I have an Environmental Discs of Tron (EDOT). It is in rough shape and only buzzes loudly when turned on. There is no video or sound. It appears to have all the cables connected. Repairing it is beyond my ability.

Is there someone that you can suggest in the Maryland area that can do repairs of this type of arcade game?

Thanks,
Danny Clark

Do you think you can remove the boardset, remove the power supply board, and get it all back together if you got them back, repaired? You also need to look for burnt connector pins. There are people who can repair the boards, but you may need to mail them off. What happens with the monitor when you turn it on? Does it light up/glow at all or display anything on the screen? I ask because, if so, the monitor may not need repaired immediately.

An EDOT so close to me? *drools*

While I'm sure its beyond my skills to repair it, I can certainly help with basic diagnostic stuff and help remove the boardsets/power supply so it can be sent out for repair.

I'm in Glen Burnie. Lemme know

If I knew MCR boards better I would jump at a chance to come an take a look at it. I just got my first MCR-based hardware (Gorf) and am picking up a Tron sunday, so I don't know much about the fixing them. I could probably do some basic power checks and such but beyond that I can't help out. I live in Glen Burnie also so your not too far. What help I can give you would probably be the same that can be done through here with pictures to guide you.

You can see a showcase of his work at Crabtowne, a very big reference if your questioning using him.

I met Tom once while at Crabtowne with some other KLOVers, and although I haven't done business with him, he seemed like an very honest, very good guy. Really seemed like he understood the collector community in addition to knowing on how to work on games.

Guys,

I am so sorry to take so long to respond.

I decided to take another shot at fixing the EDOT and purely by accident was successful. I know this sounds crazy, but unplugging the power to the monitor and reconnecting it did the trick. First, I saw video and was overly estatic...then it said "Greetings" and I almost passed out from Joy!

Any of you from the area are welcome to come over and play. I still need to fix the sound and then I get to start working on lights and cosmentics.

Thanks for the recommendation of Tom. I may still need him to fix the sound.

Danny

Check out the thred Jedidentist wrote up in the restorations section. Its extremely well written. Also a couple other Edots in there being worked on. Side art will be available in the near future and some other pieces as I get more into mine.

If you are getting a very loud hum and nothing else try unplugging the light sequencer pcb. While I was trying to get mine (light sequencer pcb) to work...I got the loud hum after doing some work to it.

Unfortunately, the EDOT is getting sold. I am asking $3200 if anyone is interested. It comes with a spare floor sticker and spinner sticker.

Too bad you're selling it.

However, EDOT doesn't have a sticker for the spinner. Only TRON does. Does your EDOT have a TRON spinner instead of the original?
