EDOT Mirrored inside walls interest thread- pre-production
Just got done talking to Pr0k and we're going to go ahead and see about making replacement inside mirrored panels for the EDOT using mirror finish stainless steel sheets. These would be the perfect thickness, and the mirror finish would be just as good, if not better than the stock mirrored sides originally used in the EDOT.
These will be exact, laser cut sheets using my original mirrored sides as templates, so they will be spot on as far as fit. The laser cutter that will be used to cut these is 1/2 million dollar laser, so there will be a little bit of cost in getting these cut with the precision needed, but it shouldn't be excessive.
I will be the guinea pig on this and will be putting up the initial cost to get this done, with Pr0k taking his personal time to scan everything in and get the cutting done... Hopefully within 4-6 weeks we should have the first set done, and I can compare them to the original, give feedback, and show how they look inside my EDOT for those that would be interested.
I don't believe we are going to apply adhesive backing to one side at this point, but we'll address that later. In order to keep costs down, we may just let you guys decide how you want to apply/install the sides yourselves.
For those that may be interested in a set, please post a reply within this thread and I'll keep you posted as far as how things are going, estimated costs, and time frames.
I really can't give a good estimate at this time as far as how much a set of these will cost due to the variables at this point, laser time and metal costs will have to be determined as we go. A rough estimate at this point is $120/set, but a price will be determined before any orders are taken.
Let me know..
