Hi - wondering if someone with an EDOT can take an exact measurement from bottom of the cab to the highest point of it?

I have a lead on an EDOT, and have been mulling over bringing one in for quite awhile now. Its a game that has a lot of sentimental value!

BUT i have concerns about my doorway height - I think i have around 78 1 /4 to work with.

If the game is taller than that, all bets are off (will not cut it!).

But, if the game is less, guessing by not much, would it be possible to "slide" it through? When sliding, the outside of the room would be a plywood base (that i would laydown), with a metal "lip" in the doorway thats slightly raised, onto carpet after it clears the door.

I can take pics if it helps to understand better. Just want to make sure i can get this beast in - pics of it show it is VERY tall. Thanks!

Yes, this picture I swiped from Khabbi's EDOT purchase thread puts it all into perspective how tall an EDOT is.....

Yes - i love that picture.

After i decided to follow this lead i have, i checked GGDB for height on the cab - says 77. Ok, that would work i think (to ease her into the room, clearing the top of the door).

But after seeing this pic in Icanbyorsuprman's thread (i think thats his dad, he seems pretty tall) - i realize this machine is a GIANT. Great picture by the way - its like he is standing next to Paul Bunyan.

Would like to know the real scoop on its height.

Spunk,

That was reciting what i read on GGDB (GGDB actually says 77 high).

BUT something happened yesterday that has me doubt GGDB - i have a Pole Position cockpit for sale. Someone asked for dimensions. Instead of me going out to measure it, i checked their site for quick figures - says 76 inches high on a PP cockpit. Its actually 60 inches to its highest point!

That let me to thinking about an EDOT height, that maybe its not 77 high - judging from the photos posted here, i think it may be taller.

Better to know for sure before its standing outside my door.

Edot

I have an EDOT at home.I can get the exact dimensions for you in a couple of days when i get home from vacation if you are interested :)

I just measured my EDOT and I get 76 1/4", that's from cab bottom to the top of the t-moulding. My game was cut, it has leg levelers underneath, I don't know if they were standard or not, but if they were you could remove them for the move and then re-install.

While we are at it, how tall is the inside of an EDOT? (ie, how tall can someone be without having to hunch over to play?)

Sorry I missed this thread until now, I can provide some input!

As you know, I just transported one 1K miles.. I searched high and low for an enclosed trailer that would fit an EDOT inside, and I couldn't find ONE that would.. even if I put it on the front and slid it in.

I also looked at box trucks to transport it, but the smaller ones had measurements that appeared to be just big enough to have clearance to get the machine in, there would be a problem with the actual door area- Most of them give you the dimensions of the INSIDE area of the cargo area, and don't tell you there's a inch or two (perhaps more on some) less clearance in the load area that makes it impossible to get it in. Be very careful with this before you rent one and drive across country to pick up a machine.

When I did find a box truck that would fit the machine, the rental and mileage was just crazy money (Over $1,000), so I used a flatbed with some serious wrapping and heavy duty tarps. It worked fine and I saved some big $.

Before I bought mine I talked to Holokid about how he transported his a few years ago, and he said he rented a box truck and had to turn the machine up on it's end to get it into the truck. He didn't have any problems with the game from transporting it that way. I've seen several here transported the game on it's front end also.

Good luck with your purchase and transport! This is one crazy BIG AND HEAVY beast! The thing that's most difficult is just how heavy the game is in front, and the fact that there's no handles or easy way to lift it up. When there's a will, there's a way though.

All I have to say is I LOVE MY EDOT! The speech and eviro cab is just AMAZING and well worth it.

Pretty damn tall..... You would have to be about 6'6 in order to duck...

The reason I ask is I have a buddy who is 6'8". But he is so tall he hunches just to see normal games. Something isn't adding up though. If the game is 77" (6'5") then you can't possibly be 6'6"and stand upright. Can someone measure?

Thanks everyone for the replies. For the second time in the last year, i PASSED!!

Maybe fumbled. I dont know - i cant take the risk of not fitting the game through that door after having it hauled. Cutting one is out of the question.

I seem to have 78 clearance, but there is an awkward hump on the bottom of the door. Maybe it would fit through, maybe it wont, i didnt want to chance it.

Oh well. Onto many years of kicking myself for not bringing in the grail.

You should just get it. I got mine and it wouldn't fit in the garage by about an inch or two until I removed the levelers/casters on the bottom.

And tall people can fit inside the game too. On the floor, towards the front of the disc you stand on, there is room to slide your feet under the coin door area. That's what the semi-seat inside the game is for. Just lean back, slide your feet forward and you're set!

Oh, now I see. I didn't know there was a semi- seat in there. I thought it was a stand inside deal. Thanks!

Ok, flip flop, i bought an EDOT.

I dont think i would be able to live with myself if i dont try to get it through the door.

So, will try and get this through. Maybe next week or so. Will report back - please wish me luck!

This would be the best case scenario - that i have 76 1/4 height. No problems then - just going to inch it through. If it goes over, as pointed out here, we will lift it up and roll it.

good. i was about to get mad that you skipped on it just for the fact that it wouldn't fit. hell, even if it doesn't, just cut the doorway to make it fit.

I had been concerned about this as well since I'm 6'6". I finally had a chance to try one out at SeaWolf's place and it's fine. The seat allows you to lean back and down so I fit. I had to duck and turn to get in, but once in, the seat eases up the head room. It's actually better than the upright for me because it brings my head down to a better viewing angle. If I'm going to play the upright for any amount of time, I need to sit on a stool to see the screen without hunching over like Quasimoto.

Just put it through the doorway with the glass-side first. Use a mover's dolly under the front and back of the cab as you move it to your doorway. Then use some furniture/magic sliders under the levelers/casters as you get the front half on the floor. You may need to remove the casters or lower them before you even get it through the doorway.
