Hi everyone.

I've just purchased my childhood dream machine, EDOT! Well its not the full enviromental but close enough for now. It's paid for and I'll be picking it up the weekend of Dec 3rd! Its in really nice shape as is but I really want to make it sing with a complete repro overhaul. I'm relatively new to collecting and have zero experience with restores but I'm super motivated and really obsessive with these kinds of projects so it'll get done with care. I've got a couple of questions for anyone that would be willing to give a newb a helping hand...... So here they are in no particular order.

I've attached a picture to this post of what appears to be a really well kept or nicely restored factory cut EDOT. Its identical to mine albeit a bit nicer. As you'll notice where I've high-lighted, I'm wondering what the shiny material lining the inner wall is made of. It has been removed on my cab and I'd love to replace it with the same type of material if possible. Any help would be awesome.

I'd love to get a new joystick repro but I've only seen repros for the TRON machines here: http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=319 Now to my untrained eye they look identical but the TRON machines don't look like they have the housing for the little red deflector button that the DOT's do. Is it hidden under the insert sticker?

If anyone has any leads or recommendations to repros of any/all kind for EDOT's could you please point me in the right direction? Like I said I'm pretty green to this community and the gentleman who sold me the machine was kind enough to point me in the direction of Rich at http://thisoldgame.com/ which is an amazing site and if I'm not confused Rich is a regular poster here. I will be contacting him shortly for sure. But if anyone has any other suggestions please shoot them my way. Like I said I'm looking for every type of repro for EDOT's

The metal marquee.... As you can see from the pic the factory cut EDOT has a metal marquee. If possible I'd love to mod the cab so that the backlit linticular marquee found on the standard upright will fit but if that turns out to not be a possibility I was wondering if anyone knows of any metal marquee repros. Ive never seen one.

Sorry for the long winded post here. But this is the last one I promise. Lastly, I'd love to remove the metal plate at the bottom front of the machine and restore the black light that was once housed there creating the glow effect on the floor boards of the full enviromantal cab. So if anyone has got any pics of the housing under there and how its wired that would be very helpful.

Well thats about it for now. Thanks for reading through this monster! I cannot tell you all how incredibly excited I am to join this community. Like I said before I'm about as green as can be and I'm not sure how much I can offer in return. But if you can find it in your hearts to help a dude realize his childhood dream I'll do everything in my power to share my experiences with any and all who need it and hopefully help them realize theirs!

Thanks again,

-Joaquim

1:here is a link to people talking about the mylar pieces:

2: joystick housing should be the same for both. Pretty sure the button attaches to deflection insert.

5:I would imagine all the wiring is there. It should have a clear plexi piece for covering under the coin door. Maybe they removed the plexi and put a piece of wood down there..

here is a pic of the front and rear plexi pieces that cover the floor lights. I pulled them off a EDOT I crushed..

Hey thanks so much for the answers! The picture was super helpful as was the link to the mylar thread! I'm gonna plunk down for a couple of the joystick repros tonight! You crushed the EDOT...... I know it was probably in really bad shape but my heart breaks just a little bit at the thought.

Thanks again,

-J

I would not have crushed it, but it was gone by water damage... I put the guts into my upright DOT. Extra parts went to help fix 3 different edots..
