EDOT Disc Floor decal- Why can't this be reproduced?

I am in the process of restoring an EDOT (I plan on doing an entire thread on it later when I have time) and one of the things that bothers me is how dirty the Disc decal is on the floorpan. I've looked high and low, and there appears to be no fix or reproduction decal that is made to restore this. Anyone know why that is? And does anyone want to take this project on, or is there something I don't know about it that makes it too difficult?

When I bought my EDOT it didn't even have the pan in it, and I was extremely lucky to land one off of ebay (won't mention the price) and it was dirty.. no matter what I tried to clean it up, it just doesn't clean up. Just about every EDOT I've seen has a dirty floorpan decal, so I know it's a common problem.

ANy ideas on this one? Who wants to take this project on? Rich? :)

I found several mentions of the guy listed here doing a small run over 10 years ago- could not find anything recent.

I don't understand why people do small or limited runs. They do the legwork to get all the art prepped for printing, then make 10-50 of something and call it done. Why not just let prospective buyers in the future pay you a fee for the artwork work you did and let them print their own copy after having paid? Something like Razoola does with CPS2 phoenix roms. The guy who did the work originally gets paid, even years later, and everyone gets their artwork without having to worry about limited quantities, everyone leaves happy.

Print their own copy at Kinkos?

I don't know what Kinkos offers for services, but I'd probably go to a local print shop and commission the job to be printed or screened or however it needed to be done. Obviously it would cost more than getting a bunch run off at one time, but at least people would have an option outside of going back and doing all of the legwork over again.

I can tell you one good reason for limited runs, it does cost a few dollars less and what it also causes is a big increase in demand. If I print 200 of something and people want it, there is no urgency, they can wait a year or two knowing I'll probably have it then.

If I print the same project with just 50 of them, most people know it will sell out quickly so even if there is only a remote chance of them needing it, they'll probably buy it.

I've always said I could post that I have 20 left of every piece of artwork I've printed and I bet they'd sell out it a week.

Of course, I'm not that kind of person, but there's my explanation.

From a business perspective, that does make sense. From a hobbyist perspective it must be depressing, especially for people who come across cabs they didn't think they'd ever own, or new people getting into the hobby and finding out the last time artwork was available was 8 years ago and now they're stuck waiting and hoping maybe someone who didn't use theirs in the past 8 years will sell it at 4x the price originally paid.

Holy run-on sentence.

I have just a few more projects to tie up and unfortunatly I still have a few light covers
to finish for a few folks.
But this and the floor light cover will get done next and have the art for both print ready.
and like the cpos the floor is and will be SCREENED with Flourescent Blacklight inks.
Ive allready started the cpos and the LARGE backglass.

What Anthony said :D

Even doing "limited runs" regardless of qty takes a large investment.
and sometimes you sit on that inventory a LONG time.
if you dont make money its hard for anyone to continue to invest in other projects
So would you rather have 500 floor matts or say 50 of ALL other EDOT pieces??

Rich is DA MAN!! Thanks for taking on these items, my EDOT project will be a special part of my arcade that is about a year in the making, not including the several years it took to find the EDOT in the first place!

Now what about that upper back glass in the EDOT with the grid lines? I really need one of those, also, and just about every one I've seen has some type of flaking or flaw. Mine is just downright nasty, but I'm going to use some pin striping until I can get something else... :) :) :)

Jaysenten did the repo a long time ago.... At one time I had his vector file but dont know which of my 10 pcs have it now. :(
I have one of his repros
