One thing I have had trouble with before is removing pins from edge connector housings. Even using the right tool made for removing them, I've found it's hit or miss at times at least for me. Anyway, last night I had a wire break off on my Pole Position's edge connector. It was the -sense wire from the video board connector. I had already replaced this housing so I can only assume I didn't do a good enough job with that -sense wire. In removing the pin, I must have somewhat damaged the housing, because when I inserted the new one the pin didn't snap right into place and actually pushed through the bottom of the housing somewhat. It wasn't a big deal to pull it back up into the housing and it's still held in place, but it can be pushed out again with a little force. I was wondering what the opinion is on replacing the housing again. It seems like a minor deal considering the pin is in place and holding fine on its own. Unless I push on the wire the pin won't just fall out the bottom so is it worth replacing the housing again or am I just being too OCD about a minor issue? Thanks for any input.

You could try taking the pin out again and bending the pin locking tab more in the direction that pushes into the connector.

Hmm perhaps. I have ordered another housing and a better extraction tool from Bob. If it comes down to it I can replace the housing again, but the connection shouldn't be at all affected as of now. Like I said I have to try to pop it out through the bottom before it will. Now normally it shouldn't pop out the bottom at all, but at least it's still held in place and not just falling out.

Normally I would say fuck it just leave it, but this is the neg sense line in a Pole Position. If you have a bad connection on the neg sense line at the edge connector for a Pole Position, you are just asking for 1 or both of your A/R II's to burn up.

That was my thought too when I saw what wire had come out. I did order a new housing and a better extraction tool from Bob. I honestly think connection wise it's fine and there's no way for the pin to slide out with it plugged on the board let alone that the housing still holds it in place even if it can be pushed through easier....but as I said I did order a new housing just to be safe. The last thing I want is the have all the time rebuilding the ARII's go down the drain over a simple wire.
