Sorry if this is a KLOVer,
But I just bought a game for a good price, the reserve was $400. I won the game, but he sends me this.....
"Sorry but the bid did not reach my reserve I have decided to try again at a later date or just keep it."
WHAT DO I DO!??!?!?!?!

This REALLY pisses me off.....

Its called douchbaggery!

You could report them to ebay (officially, they agreed to be bound by contract to honor the sale and all), but I kinda doubt it will get you anywhere. All you can do is neg-em :(

That sucks man...Hopefully he gets stuck with the final value fees on the item anyway. Was it a local guy? If so, shoot me his ebay id so I can ensure I don't buy anything from him.

Did you win the game for more than the $400 (ie: was the reserve met)? I am not 100% clear on that.

If so... report him to ebay and neg his ass.

If not... that is why the reserve is there.

Was the reserve not met message posted on the page When you placed your bids?

Yeah Local guy... He is obviously new to Ebay by his "2"..... AND I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here..... No reserve.... I won the item, now he changes his mind?!? WTF?! I don't want to be a complete DICK here, if I DO pick it up, I'll have to bring a body guard, and at the end of the day it AINT WORTH THAT!!!
How do I handle this?
Its a Pacman cocktail for $400 bucks by the way, I'm not getting a STEAL HERE?!?!!

report him. probably won't help to get the game but maybe it'll deter him from pulling this shit in the future.

I had a guy do that to me once so I sent him all the pages stating he's obligated to sell it to me. Once he found out he can get kicked off eBay for it he followed through with the sale. Its a contract, if they don't set the reserve high enough then that's their problem. Tell him he set a reserve and its not your problem if he didn't set it high enough, if he won't sell it then open a claim with eBay and forward the email he sent you. If nothing else you can get him booted and its not so easy to just start another account. Does he have a lot of feedback?

EBay doesn't do shit to help you in this situation. I won 5 vectrex carts on ebay, no reserve and the guy told me that they were no longer for sale. I contacted ebay and they reminded him of the policy but did nothing. The guy still sells on ebay and I got hit with 5 unpaid item claims by the automated system. Ebay says I have to contact the seller to have him remove them. You believe that?

You can try to scare the guy but don't expect any help from ebay.

Personally, I have a hard time believing that someone in 2011 doesn't understand how reserves on ebay work. Even if their account claims they've only had 2 deals happen.

You mean THIS auction?

Yep - negative feedback for the seller. Give him the chance to sell it to you proper first, though. If he back out, tell him you'll be forced to leave negative feedback. And then report him to eBay.
Yep, thats the one.....
At the end of the day its not a STEEL, but still a good deal. GOD DAMN IT,at least in these parts, this pisses me off... I'm guessing this is an ebay rookie that doesn't have a CLUE.....
ASSHOLE......

I agree with the previous poster that said eBay won't do jack. If you report it, they will give you a canned response that they are dealing with the seller but won't tell you if the seller is suspended, etc. In other words, you're screwed.

Sure, I could scare him, but at the end of the day I gotta show up at this fucks house to pick this thing up!!! HA!!

I wouldn't say you're screwed just yet. After all, now that you have a valid eBay ID number of a completed auction, you can request the seller contact info and call him directly. You should also now have his address. Perhaps you can go pay him a little visit?

Ahh well its no BIG deal, I just picked it up because it was local and for a decent price.....
Not my fault this asshole doesn't know how ebay works.......
I sure hope ebay socks him with some fees at least.....

Give him a negative feedback. No one will be buying from him for a while.

Yeah, from the Q and A it sounds like he doesn't quite get how this all works...

"Q: Hello, I am not sure if you would consider an offer....but I would like to make a serious cash offer of $300, if it doesn't sell. Steve740-624-9592....0r [email protected]

A: Dear flyboycub, I may not accept 400 if it sells. I'm having second thoughts about selling."

Not saying this excuses it at all, but maybe he just really doesn't get how eBay works? If not, trying to nicely explain that he's entered a legally binding contract at the time of auction end may get him to reconsider. Worth a shot before you give up the machine if you care about it, and then if he refuses you have a message to show eBay making it obvious that he knows what he's doing when he makes the decision. If all that doesn't work, by all means neg him, but I personally would calmly explain the situation and see if anything comes of it, not to be nice to the seller but to try to get my item... Several times I've been in a similar situation with a new seller and I've managed to get through it with the item I won and no hard feelings...

I'd just explain to him that he will still be charged auction fees at 10% or whatever it's up to now and face having his account disabled for not completing the transaction as it was a no reserve auction...tell him you are willing to pay the auction price and save him those fees and the headache of having his account disabled(however unlikely that may be).

If he says no, give him negative feedback and tell him to clean the piss/ass sweat off his stool before trying to sell it again :D
