Ebay WTF

Those are the video game tokens the US mint makes. They work great in all kinds of video games with standard mechs. No need to buy costly replacement token mechs - these just work!

I've got a stash of these too, if anyone wants - I'll sell you 80 for $25 (plus shipping).

If you manage to find a currency worth less than ours, you might actually have a deal here.

Considering it's on ebay, I'm surprised the shipping isn't higher than 5.95.

If I was buying something else from him and he combined the shipping, I would consider it. I always need quarters for parking meters, and $2 is cheaper than driving to go get quarters locally.

It's to sell to people who live in other countries and have coin op equipment that takes quarters. How the hell else are they going to get them?

Remember when our good friend Mr. Ram Controls was ripping people off, one of the complaints against him was from a guy who bought some stuff to be shipped overseas, and then also bought a roll of quarters from him?

Maybe he thought Dave was going to personally deliver so he could put use to that roll of quarters, mono a mono. ;)

Well you can always buy a colored $2 bill for $10. :D

(for those showing up late to the game - the auction is for 40 US Quarters, is priced at $12 with $5.95 shipping).

I suspect an attempt to determine, with a high degree of accuracy, just how stupid a person can be found on ebay. I'm watching it to see what happens...

If you're interested, for only $12 plus the cost of a stamp, I can send you a gift certificate, redeemable for 40 quarters at your local bank. The gift certificate itself is very nice, detailed, and has a portrait of Alexander Hamilton on it.

I always wondered where my bank got these from. I guess I need to find a different bank to invest with, because they keep selling these things at a loss.
:D

Really?!? You live in Reno, Nevada! You're telling me that it's hard to get quarters in a town with that many slot machines?

-Ian

Actually, slot machines don't take coins anymore around here. The arcades all use tokens or cards now, too. I t is not particularly difficult to get them, but it does take time and gas. I think the gas would be close to the $2, but if I add in the time, it is actually a decent deal. As I mentioned, it would only be if they were thrown in with something else so I didn't have to pay the shipping charge.

I would much rather sit at home and have them delivered for $2 than to drive to a bank, wait in line, then have to deal with the tellers.

That is the only way it makes sense to me. I once sold a Galaxian cocktail to a guy in the UK. He wanted a roll of quarters for it. He could have used the credit switch or changed the mech but he wanted quarters since that was the way it was designed to work.

now on the flip side, would buying them in a country (theoretically) where the exchange rate is in their favor make it worth it?
