If people are interested, I'll post a full accounting, detailing all fees charged for comparison:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=130320257263

Versus:

http://www.chasethechuckwagon.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000167007

Both started pretty much same time and should end pretty much same time.

By the way, how long do you think it will be before ebay cancels my auction for the third paragraph in the description? I have a strong feeling it's not "if", it's "when".

Not really unbiased.

Millions shop eBay, thousands of them arcade buyers every day. Hundreds shop CtW, probably tens of them arcade buyers every day.

By placing the notice here, I think that you now have a lot of people going to watch to see if they can get the sticks for $8.01 shipped, which they know they can't get at eBay in the end.

So by advertising it here, it makes it an unfair comparison since it likely will get more traffic and a higher bid. I know if I could walk away with a pair for $8.01 I would :)

But good luck.

If you truly wanted an UNBIASED comparison you should not have posted anything about this until the auctions were closed...

Your eBay auction will get nixed for mentioning checks in the 4th paragraph. Their bots won't give a squat about the third paragraph. You should post a link in that paragraph to the CTC auction That will drive some traffic to it fo sho! :D

I've listed about a half dozen boards on CTCW since it began. Decent working boards, and at a 15-20% discount over eBay starting bids. Guess how how many bid I've gotten so far, total????

It seems to me the only arcade traffic CTCW gets are a subset of our cheap-ass KLOV'ers. (No offense, I'm one of them. :p)

Well, that would suck! I just bid high on them since I need them for a Robotron I'm rebuilding for the home. It will be my first game back in the house since I moved from Colorado.

EVB - You wouldnt happen to be the guy that I played Stargate without Inviso with at CAX would ya?

Sorry about the hijack!

I disagree. What's wrong with advertising or mentioning them? How does advertising slant any bias? I advertised them equally. I don't think I'm making any kind of bias towards either auction.

By announcing this "comparison", you are letting each "camp", the "ebay camp" and the "ctcw camp" know about the comparison allowing them the opportunity to bid when they may not have otherwise to "beat" the other.

TO truly be unbiased, you could have either not mentioned the "comparison" OR you could have advertised each auction independent of each other, preferably with a different user name so folks couldn't put two and two together.

By announcing the "comparison", you've possibly tainted your results, if even by a single bid...

Thanks for bringing in a couple new members. Here is what the Chuckwagon winner said to me when he registered today and then I asked him where he heard of the Chuckwagon:

_____________________________________________________________________

"Hi, It was purely by chance - I was after some Robotron Wico joysticks and the
seller had some on ebay and mentioned in that auction that he was selling
another set on another auction site. A quick google and I tracked them
down.

Cheers, D"

This is how Google Base helps us. So imagine if you all put your items on the Chuckwagon (at least parts) they would then be fed into Googles system and people find it and then bid and join. It works great. And he didn't mention that he saw it here. That's even better.

So how did this turn out for you after the fees were all figured into the mix? You were charged 0% on the Chuck as you have a free seller account but you would have been charged 3% or $3.18. What did Ebay ding ya?

$122.00 for TWO WICO 4" sticks!!! Holy crap!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=130320257263

Congrats!

$106.00 from CTCW! Nice!!!

I had no idea I got such a kickass deal on my WM CP that came with 4" Wicos...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I used to buy those sticks from our Wico rep for $7.95 BITD... If I only would have known that I had a gold mine at my disposal back then...

Where in the hell did I put that time machine?
