EBAY: Used 19" WG Monitors (not mine)

Ah, but shouldn't the monitor you put up as an example be representative of the monitors being sold? In this case, it was not.

Of course... You were complaining that there was no notification of the example. Not that the example sucked. He should have had 8 auctions or even posted a picture with all 8 screens. Then say that he was going to ship in order of quality and off more first if you want a nice one. :)

Sounds like he is a total scammer and the setup of a new looking monitor pic was intentional. Especially with what was said about the guy in this thread from someone who knows him.

That's slight burn... plus it works?!?!?

I don't think the seller deserves the hassle for yours Frizz. I remember seeing this thread and noticing that the auction stated that some monitors had slight burn. As someone else mentioned, slight burn is subjective and what I consider slight burn might not be what you consider slight burn.

As the old adage goes... buyer beware! You guys rolled the dice on purchasing a monitor sight-unseen. Some got lucky and others crapped out.

Just be glad you didn't get this...

He just sent me this message via email.

quote:
i am sorry about this i am selling these for another vendor and do not have control over what is sent out i will talk to them about it.

You need to report that to eBay. Dosent matter if he is listing "for another vendor", hes still entered into contract as the seller and hes obligated to refund your money if he didnt sell you what was advertised. I hate when sellers try to pull that shit.

On a side note, if anyone gets a spare monitor out of this, I'm in the market for one.

Not looking for a freebie myself... just a reasonable price for what I got. I overpaid by about $40.00... if I want to use this in a clear bezel game, I will need to source a proper tube.

Wow - this gets my blood boiling and I wasn't one of the people that got screwed.

I have grown to hate the words "trust and subjective." Because you can't trust the person knows his ass from a hole in the ground. A subjective view - some people's idea of a clean house from yours can be quite different. Same with monitor tubes.
All of you .... jump this guys shit and get your money back and keep him from hosing someone else. I am truly sorry for you guys.

I got tired of the run around with him. So I filed a dispute. Here is his reply. I did give him to noon to get back to me. But wacked him a hour early. Bummer.

to be honest i do not like selling things for others . because of this reason with out me personally seeing the item. i am going to go get you two tube replacements today i just talked to him about it . i am not sure who the others are that are un happy. the only problem i have know is o can not ship the monitors from my house since you files the dipute you locked my paypal account up so know i have to drive 45 minutes to the nearest ups terinial to ship them. i wanted to get them shippied out to you today but i am going to have to see when i can get timne off work to get them to the terminal. if you would have just gave me the time like you said this would have all been taken care of today . i try to take care of my customers to the best of my abiliaty but when i have to depend on other s getting back to me some times it takes time.

He offered me $25.00 refund. I declined. I explained to him that I can get moderately burned 19" CGA monitors for $50-$75 locally... depending on the burn and the $40 I requested back brings the amount to $80 total which is at the top end of what it costs me locally for a moderately burned monitor. Now, I'll admit the burn isn't terrible, but it sure as hell isn't "slight". I bought this to go in to my Multipede cabinet, which I can't use it for because the Multipede cab has clear plexi... so I'm going to stick to my guns.

Funny how he's maintaining the "selling for others" line when we have a member here who knows the guy and knows the OP he buys bulk from then resells. Also funny how he doesn't know of the others complaining since we're all talking here and posting his replies to us.

Bottom line is that he misrepresented what he was selling. While I managed to get the middle of the stick, some of you got the shitty end and I feel a little bad for it being I posted this guys auction here.

His options remain: (1) $40 refund or (2) Schedule UPS (on his dime) to come pick up this monitor.

Sure glad I paid for this with Paypal via my credit card (ALWAYS do that!).

What?? these are 19" monitors?? I thought they were 25"! If anyone was local or someone gave me shipping boxes, I would sell $75 + shipping for 19" that either had overhaul or in the least a cap kit. Ouch!

Kevin

Anyone know if this seller used to sell on eBay under the name: garage_sale_finds_today? This whole ordeal smells like shit I stepped in last year with a seller on ebay who was selling "slighty used" monitors.

I'll keep that in mind Kevin.

:)

my tubes may have burn, but at least you get a repaired chassis and a pic of the tube. What was shown on that auction was falsley represented as a near new tube. Looking at that tube with description minor burn.. I would be thinking burn that can only be seen if you are anal and inspteced it extremely close. $25-$35 used monitor + shipping would be fair for that.

Was his last name Parry?

He sent me a reply stating he needs me to ship the monitor back so he can return it to the vendor for a replacement.
It sounds like he expects me to cover shipping and wait.

The bottom line is the guy misrepresented the items he had for sale in both saying they had "slight burn" and by using a very nice looking low/no burn monitor as the "example picture" without mentioning he fact the monitor being depicted is not the actual monitor being sold.

I agree that the monitor you got has more than slight burn. It would have been hard for him to post the exact monitor he was selling, the auction was a multiple auction I think there were 10 monitors for sale. I tried to get a few but was to late, im happy I did not get one. That packing job is the worst I have seen for a monitor. If he keeps mailing like that he will be getting alot of paypal claims.

I think he owes you a partial refund. That monitor was cheap and works, if you use it in a machine with a tinted bezel you might not even notice. Ask yourself what would you honestly pay for it, if you had seen a picture of that monitor, If you would have only paid half tell him you want half your money back. If you would not have bought it in that condition, tell him you want a full refund and call your credit card company.

Bottom line is you have to send a message, you cant continue to sell like this. He needs to understand that alot of collectors are now aware of his scam.:(

Minor burn is hardly subjective. If a discernable whole screen image is there, it is no longer minor burn.

Minor burn = nondescript burning
Minor burn = light "game over" burn in one small location.
Minor burn = a lightly burned image that fills less than 25% of the tube.

I've had all 3 of these examples, and they look great with or without tinted plexi.
On the other end of the spectrum, I have had several pac burn tubes. I still have one of them in my Xevious 48/1. The pacman maze is visible during gameplay, especially in games with solid colors like 1942.

This guy quite intentionally misrepresented his items. Asking for $40 back is more than acceptable.
