eBay: Robotron Cabaret, $575, BIN $800 (CA)

How can you tell this is in CA?

eBay keeps changing their %$#%# item page. It seems like every week they've moved information somewhere else or hidden it. ARGGHHH!!!

Like it isn't important where an item like this is located.

Jeez that is a great deal.

Not sure I would prefer that size to the full size version of the game though.

Yeah, eBay did recently change their format.

I can tell you that the monitor is positioned nicely (better than the cocktail), but it's 13". It forces you to be good at the game.

That game is a deal as a BIN. That is not going to last very long. I am surprised it's still for sale. That person does not know what they have, it's not even listed as an arcade game.

I was asking $900 for mine earlier this year; it's in excellent cosmetic and working shape. No takers here at KLOV.

If it ever goes back on the market, it's going directly to eBay. The last NIB one sold for $2600 there.

The two issues I do see with the game on Ebay is that he put new side art on it that appears to be not stenciled and he replaced the monitor.

In my opinion original unrestored collector quality games are the most valuable games rather than the fully restored games. The games that I have that are rare will never be restored by me.

Yup - that's my philosophy, too.

I used to be concerned that my Robo mini had been repainted, but not anymore `cause the paint touch-ups appear to be factory...and the ® logo stickers are intact and have obviously never been removed.

that price is too high in my opinion for something that isn't restored properly.

I've toyed with homemade cabinets using that basic style and think it is one of the best looking mini machines around.

but after all the experimentation, it is really hard to beat the screen positioning of an upright with 19inch monitor. they just had that perfectly right for a game that puts you on the edge of your human reflexes/peripheral vision/thinking speed.

even being good, when you shrink that amount of action into a 13 inch monitor the physical distance is so drastically reduced it is hard to respond fast enough at the higher waves.

URs have so many different monitor positions that I think it's difficult to lump them all together. (Unless you're just talking about Robotron - in that case, understood.)

It's an extra challenge, for sure. But it can be done. It's certainly not garden-variety Robotron; it's different.

yah, i meant the robotron/joust upright positioning specifically.

seems like robotron never gets too boring when you mix it up with all these quirky variations like small monitors. i quit playing for quite awhile now i'm back to trying the higher difficulties. i do pretty well at diff 7. working hard on diff 9. someday diff 10 won't be so elusive. :)

+1 on that. Side art that's not even stenciled on a Williams game kills the value in my opinion.
