I had an item end recently on Sat evening at 8:58pm with a winning bid
Buyer contacts me and says he will pay first thing Monday morning.
Monday passes, Tuesday passes, Wed at 8:58 is when I can open a non paying bidder claim,
buyer pays at the 4 day mark almost on the button.
He has a low feedback of 4.
What do you think? Scam or not? I have been buying on ebay for years but just started listing some crap that collects dust, sound in and let me know what you think.

If the buyer paid, and you're still worried...withdraw the money from pp and wait for it to hit your bank before you send it. You're probably looking too deep into it.

I just recently started selling stuff on Ebay and have found that unless you specify in your listing how soon you expect payment that some people will take the standard 10 day window to pay... If PP says he paid and you can see it through your ebay account then its good.

For added measure you can wait till the funds become available to you and withdrawal them then ship the item but that can take upwards of a week or longer if your not an established ebay Seller. And you may find the buyer complaining about your turnaround time.

Good Luck

I am new to this forum but I've sold a lot of stuff on ebay over the years. Many people will pay promptly -- almost immediately in many cases -- but I've had plenty of deals where it's been 3-5 days before I've seen a payment come through. Since I don't include anything on my auctions that says "Payment within X days is required," I don't sweat it and I let people take their time. I had one guy that hadn't paid for like two weeks, and I finally wrote him and asked what was up. He wrote back and said "sorry, I just forgot" and paid right away.

Considering that the person only has 4 transactions in his feedback, it may be just somebody new to ebay who doesn't know the etiquette. I wouldn't be too worried if I were you.

Even if you do that and they file a dispute (or attempt a scam in this case), PP will take the money from your PP account in the form of having a negative balance for the amount in question. So, next time you sell something and PP is used to pay, it'll just go towards that negative amount.

Yes, I'm aware of how Paypal works.
I don't send anything without tracking, and only to the address on the PP account.
In the twelve years I've been selling my life on ebay, I'm yet to run into one of these scammers.
When I'm in any kind of doubt, or am having some trouble with a buyer I call ebay customer svc and chat about it, Preemptive-like. The amount of money they take in fees make them work for it. Invoice every other day, and open a non paying bidder case on day five.
