Ebay: NIB: Robotron 2084 Cabaret

I have a good memory of opening mine. The factory touch ups were bit rough, ie. a blotch of black spray paint on rear, a fast touch up here and there. My lights strip was not working on mine. It was still a thing of beauty when it came out of the box and one game I will never sell. John has sold all of his NIB mini Robotrons so this could be the last NIB out there.

this is a friends here in FL, he bought it, but then got an Arcade Legends 2, and with a new pinball purchase on the way, this is to go, its a thing of beauty, and love the starting bid :)

These NIB games fascinate me. I can understand if the game is 10 or 15 years old there being a few left out there. If it is 31 years old though someone needs to open up and enjoy this thing already!

What are these people waiting for, the nursing home break time luncheon!!!!! Play the darn thing please. We are not getting any younger here...

Yeah I would have opened that thing up and plugged it in before the delivery truck had pulled away. There is no way it would have lasted 31 years in a box

Yes they are fine overall for 31 years. I bout mine about 5 years ago or so from that lot and it was awesome. Fired up properly and was packed exactly as in the picture. Anyone who picked up one of these was fortunate as they are worth the asking price. I think I paid around $2100 shipped as John was being a nice guy and had a few left but was getting low. I would suspect the original lot of NIB Robotrons was at least 10 plus there were a few cocktails (no where near as nice to play).

I almost bought one of these about a year and a half ago. The guy in Canada and I had a deal in place, when he had 2 left for sale. Then, bam, one of them sold, and he the price went up $1000 since it was his last one. All in a matter of days. I passed.

I purchased one of these cabarets from John along with some other NIB games too.....the one in the auction has the most factory touch ups I've seen..Mine only had maybe one or two.....I imagine the game would have looked better without the touch ups as they just seemed to glob on the paint...really looks like crap IMO but it is original so I guess you can live with it...I just wonder what the hell was going on with quality control where you had to have so many touchups on these painted cabs...and then after feeling like touch ups were needed they were ok with these results..obvious globs of paint which have to look worse than the original flaws...guess no one was complaining as long as the games went out quickly and made money.

Methinks he may have played it, or at least powered it up. They did not have Energizer batteries like that 30 years ago. Also the power switch is in the up (on) position.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.

Standing there alone, with a virgin Robotron, no microswitch ever actuated, no quarters ever in its slots, I don't even want to meet the sicko who could resist at least plugging it in.

That was likely done by John Robertson...he offers to open it up and make sure the game is working and replaces what needs replacing...then he carefully closes it back up..so technically its already been opened and tested...John just makes sure to reseal the same way it was...its something he usually leaves up to buyer...leave it sealed and buy as is..or make sure it working and no surprises inside...at least that is what I know from dealing with him..and I purchased 4-5 NIB games from him.

The seller does state the pictures where taken when game was checked to see if what working..prior to being shipped...

Well, the truth is, it would be really irresponsible of him NOT to test it.

"Unused" isn't the same as "new." It's still sensitive electronics that have been sitting in a box for 30+ years.

Please excuse the newbie question. How does one end up with a warehouse with 30 yr old games still in boxes? Thanks
