Last summer, I answered a craigslist ad for a small boat. I called the dude, set up a time to go pick it up. I showed up, and the dude was acting a little antsy. I check out the boat, decide to buy it, and we start to hitch it to my pickup. So here's where it gets good. A black Nissan SUV comes in behind us, slams the brakes, and a woman jumps out screaming. The seller says to me, in a hush tone "uh oh". Well, turns out, it's the dude's wife, and they are going through a divorce. The wife is screaming that he can't sell anything, it's all marital property, blah blah blah. Then the kids jump out of the SUV, screaming and bawling. A little boy, probably 5 years old runs up to me and says "YOU CAN'T TAKE MY MOMMY'S BOAT!!!! YOU JUST CAN'T!!!!!!!!'" I told the dude..."this isn't a good idea...I'm going to take off." The guy tries to tell me to just hitch it up, pay him, and he'll take care of the wife. The wife runs in the house, saying "I'm calling the police!!! You CAN'T SELL THAT BOAT!!!". The husband tells me to stick around, and he runs in the house. Once the husband is inside, I un-hitch the boat, and got the hell out of there.
It was....an interesting event.
