OK... I recently acquired a Toobin that had a bad waterfall motor. I searched everywhere to see if anyone had found a fix or replacement motor for the waterfall. There was a post here I found that talked about the possibility of using an AC gear motor from McMaster-Carr. McMaster-Carr sells a 15.3 RPM gear motor, and they also sell a 20 RPM motor. The Toobin motor is a 16 RPM. I ordered the 15.3 RPM motor because is was closer to the original in speed. When the motor arrived today the rod sticking out of the motor was visibly fatter and shorter than the original. I ended up grindning the sides of the rod until it fit snug into the hole at the end bottom waterfall bar. To prevent the rod from slipping I drilled another hole on the bar closer to the opening that would pass through the motor rod and out the other side of the waterfall bar. I then inserted a screw to make it stay tight together. After that I plugged in the motor and turned on the Toobin.

Total cost of repair was under $25 ($20 for motor , $4.25 for shipping).

Now my Toobin joins the ranks of the others that have a working waterfall.

I hope this helps others in getting their waterfalls fixed.

Nice, or you can always pay me to turn the motor by hand, I charge reasonable hourly rates...lol

I purchased the 3867K21 like robxf said. It's the only 15.3 RPM motor they sale in that motor style. You could try the 20 rpm motor if you wanted faster water movement, but I was worried about the torque being too weak to run the system so I opted for the 15.3 RPM.

I finally got around to fixing my Toobin' waterfall motor. Your advice worked like a charm. Just wanted to thank you again for taking the time to post your find.

Thanks Again

Oh yeah... I meant to look up this post and post a followup also... I did this to mine several months ago and it works great! Thanks,

I called Hankscraft Inc. today to get pricing on the original 16RPM motor:

1-5: $76.67 ea.
6-9: 35.04 ea.
10+: $26.63 ea.

These are an exact fit and require no modification. Until someone stocks up on 10 or more and resells them individually, though, the McMaster-Carr motor is the cheapest option for a single purchase.

I need one of these motors for a Toobin I just picked up. Did anyone buy 10+ already? If no one else has I might if there's anyone willing to buy the extras? Anuone else need one?

I recently picked up a Toobin and the gears in my motor were stripped. Found this thread, motor in original post isn't available anymore. Searched around online and found close to the correct motor, but they're around $75. Couldn't find anything on eBay either.

Then last week I saw an AC gear motor in my suggested feed, this item:

Not exactly a direct replacement, but for the price and a little modification I think it will work out. Bought one last week, will post again once I receive it.

When I got my Toobin' I was upset to discover that it had the entire waterfall assembly removed and replaced with a single screw in bulb outlet.

Always looking for a waterfall assembly out there to stick in it.

Did you have any luck with the motor?

Didn't see this till now.

Yes, the motor worked... but with some modifications. The shaft was too large of a diameter, but i shaved it down with my dremel, and had to drill one small hole in the waterfall frame.... but it works nicely and at the correct speed, and is near silent.
