How the fuck do you get this shit back in there?!?!

Honestly, I don't remember how I got the old monitor out... but I know that I just about crapped out my lung and almost broke a finger while try'ng to put the new one back in!!!

Those wooden rails (the ones that support the back door) on either side are just about 4" too long to comfortably get the monitor in there... It really makes me wonder how I got the old one out! I've come in at an angle from the bottom... but right when I try to lay the monitor down... the top of the monitor gets caught on the top of the door frame. So I tried getting the monitor to go in with the wood that mounts to the bottom completely vertical... which by the way is how I almost gave birth to my internal organs... Still no go.

I know I took the old monitor out of the back... can someone get some construction paper and crayons and draw me a damn picture or something... it's too early in the morning for this heavy lifting crap and I'm already in a REALLY bad mood.

It comes out the front!

Open control panel.

Remove monitor glass retainer (with 1/8" Allen wrench)

Remove monitor glass.

Remove cardboard bezel. It's stapled in. Use thumbtacks to re-install.

Remove monitor mounting bolts.

Unplug power, video and frame ground connections.

Now lift out monitor through the front.

Installation is reverse of above.

Son of a... that doesn't sound fun at all either! ... And I didn't see no crayons...

How the hell did I get that thing out of the back of the cabinet to begin with!!!

/day

Thanks Ken.

Is it the upright or the cockpit? I got monitors in and out the back of mine just fine.

Upright... that's what kills me, I KNOW I took the monitor out of the back... I remember there was some weird angle I had to get it at, but it did come out. This "new" one just won't go in... then I tried to take the bezel bracket off... last screw was rusted so bad I can't get a grip on it to move back it out, so I'm going to have to buy some easy-outs just to get this friggin' POS (missing red, but better than nothing) 4600 back in there.

It could be that the angle of the side brackets on the chassis are different - the Matsushita monitor may have a steeper angle to the back than a 4600, where you could sort of start with it face down and then swing it up and in.

I honestly can't remember how I put my 4900 in my Pole position, but I want to say from the front because I remember the control panel being apart.

Were there different revisions of cabinets? I got a Matsushita in and out of mine as well as an Electrohome G07 with little to no problem. Pcolson got his G07 out without problems either.

If anything is different, it'd be the little "ledges" that the back door rests on behind the monitor... if mine were a little shorter, the monitor would go in the back with no problems what-so-ever. If anything's different, just just be those pieces of wood are shorter on yours? No idea.

Why are we having this discussion? Once you pull the bezel, installing and removing the monitor from the front is as simple as putting the monitor down on a shelf and lining it up with the bolt holes.
