I finally got around to rebuilding the flippers on my Earthshaker. It was in good working order when I got it so, I did not bother until now. It has Parallel coils.
It is my first system 11 flipper rebuild. I started with the worst of the two, and when done the flipper worked for one game, but on the next game was dead. Blown fuse. Replaced fuse. Played several more games, including a high score setting game.
I do need to go back and add a length of wire to turn the coil around the right way, but otherwise it is good.
Today I got around to rebuilding the other flipper. I hit the switch 2x and it died. I did not have time to look furhter into it. A quick glance at the fuse, and it looked good. I know this does not mean it is not bad.
The fuse that was in the holder for the first flipper was over Amp. I replaced with what was recommended per the manual.
My questions:
When the flippers were converted, was it recommended to change the fuse ampreage? I see no note of this on pinrepair.com.
Is it normal for a flipper rebuild to cause a fuse to blow on these games?
Am I missing something, should I be looking for another problem?
Anything else I shoud be on the look out for with System 11B? Earthshaker in general?
This machine is in a friends house, so I can not get to it everyday, but I would like to be more prepared when I go back to work on it.
