Earthshaker pinball at pawn shop...been really thinking about it

There has been this Earthshaker pinball machine at the local pawn shop for a few months now. He also has another one, Millionaire something.

I know the playfield does have small wear (nothing like my previous Vector). Also said that a battery needs to be replaced - not sure what that means. But I was going to go and see if it actually powers up and plays. I miss me some pinball.

Thoughts?

$900 is a very good price on a working ES game. Batteries could have gone bad so I would look in the backbox for leakage. It's not terrible to fix, but you might be able to get the price down a little more if there's acid on the batteries.

Millionaire is a pretty fun pin as well. Though if he's asking the same price say no way. I saw one at Texas Pin fest in working/ great shape go for 800 and some change.

Yes, that's definitely worth it. And if they say the batteries need to be replaced, that means they've leaked and they don't want to say anything. It may not even power up at this point. Make sure you point out the corrosion when you're looking it over. Good luck! I think CPR will eventually make repro playfields, so you don't have to sweat the wear.

ES is >>>>>>>>>>>>>> than Millionaire. Millionaire is a one trick pony with a very difficult resale in these parts. Friend of mine couldn't get $700 for it full working. Once you get the two lock shots down in Millionaire it gets very bland, very quickly. Score only goes to 9,999,999 so it is not hard to put up scores higher than that and then all you see is all 9's. I wouldn't pay more than a few hundred bucks for a Millionaire.

Yeah, the Millionaire had a sticker price less than the Earthshaker. I'm thinking it was $700- $900. It didn't look that interesting so I wasn't even think about getting that one.

Williams' Millionaire is a guilty pleasure of mine for sure. I have to admit A LOT of it is nostalgia-based.

Is it easy gameplay-wise? To me, it definitely is (especially if you get a post transfer pass down). I also believe it was the first or not the first pin I rolled the score. (Either this or F-14)...

I agree w/ others on here that the artwork is atrocious! But, the audio is awesome - hail Chris Granier (spelling?)!

A well tuned Earthshaker is a thing of joy. If it just needs shopping out, get on it, but watch out for things like inserts lifting on the playfield as they can be a pain in the arse to fix. Personally, I would get it, but cheaper is better. If he's asking 1500, he probably only has 350 in it. So 750-800 would not be out of the question. Of course, if he has drawn a line in the sand at 900, just look it over really well, and then make the most informed decision you can. But if the question is will you like it, the answer is a hearty yesss......assuming the work it needs isn't extensive.

So that's like a definite maybe. ;)

Yep, but have no truck so I have to find some way to get it home.

Made a deal to include a Sony 32" LCD TV also.

I was able to clear the boot up error by going through the settings. Played fine afterwards.
I couldn't for the life of me get the top open. There was two keys and one opened the coin door, but neither of them would open the top. Might have to drill the lock.

Not sure what I saw before, but there is no major playfield wear. If anything, very minor.

We agreed on $1000 for the Earthshaker and 32" Sony LCD TV. TV is worth about $225, so paid about $775 for pinball, the way I see it.

Good job!

But I must say........

I am jealous of the price!

I already paid for it. As soon as I find a way to get it home, I'll get you some pics. I'm trying to get my cousin to haul it for me. Probably have to swing him a twenty or something...

Damn I miss my truck...

I purchased a "Big Game" pinball from the Rhinelander pawn shop. The game was somewhat operable, but the playfield lights weren't working.

The condition of the pinball was very well used. Some of the things wrong with it were a little unbelievable. Like broken wires.

I finally got the playfield lights working on my pinball. But then, the sound quit. Now, it doesn't even cycle up.

Hoping you have better luck with your machine.

OK ok, here are the pics. First one is the ride home (thanks to my cousin- no charge)

Other three are of it setup in my work area in the basement.

Seems to play fine. Needs a couple bulbs replaced.
The vibrating thing scared the crap out of me.
