Earthquake just hit close to Cleveland

Huh. That's weird - we just felt something here not half an hour ago. A very small shaking. And I'm in New York...

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Officials from the U.S. Geological Survey are trying to confirm that the rumbling that was felt in Northeast Ohio this afternoon was an earthquake.

People from Michigan to western New York flooded social media sites with messages saying they felt it as well.

Oliver Boyd, an official with the Earthquake Hazards Program with the U.S. Geological Survey, said the department received a call from someone in Michigan.

It wasn't that bad. My office just shook for about five seconds. It was just enough to notice my monitor moving a little. We thought it was an overloaded train going by until someone read it on a news site.

Michigan too. Felt it here at the office - knocked out a light in my co-worker's office. Wife said people at her office outside on smoke break looked over and saw the building shaking back and forth...

We had one when I lived in Chicago in the 80's. It was very cool because it went west to east, so we felt it and then the newspeople who were on air felt it a few seconds later. The hilarity really stepped up a notch when they went to look for the sports guy who dove under his desk. His excuse was that he just spent 15 years in California and everybody hides under their desks when there is a quake in CA. :D

Our building shook for a few seconds. We're located in down town Cleveland right by the lake

They let us leave for the day while engineering checked out the building.

It was a great afternoon off. :):):)

The quake originated near Quebec/Ontario boarder. 1:41 p.m. 5.0 on the richter? scale.
