already emailed Smart ind. and they wont be open till Monday for tech support. I need to get this game running as its our best earner. does anyone know what gen it is ? It has a red cabinet and the top marquee says "clean sweep" and the side marquee has a picture of a guy with a broom sweeping. In the prize chamber is the credit/time display. I seem to remember these from the early nineties. It uses the 4 position joystick. Is this gen one ?

Also, When i push the red button the claw will not come down. So far this is what I have done :

1. check entire machine for loose wires, bad solder points etc
2. make sure red button activates switch
3. check all other switches and make sure any NO ones are open and any NC ones are closed.
4. when i add a credit and move the claw and press the red drop button on the joystick the timer stops counting, the claw does not drop, and it is stuck there.
5. Before it stopped working, I added a credit and didnt move the carriage and dropped the claw. It went to the maximum down length. Could this have caused a problem ?

Am I missing something obvious.

Sounds like the claw wound up backwards as the string is probably missing the knot in the top from being re-strung over time.

Power off the crane, on the top of the string motor worm gear there is a slot for flat head screw driver. Manually unwind the string all the way so all of the string is off the take-up spool. Push the claw over so it hangs on the play field. Set the claw on top of the play filed floor.

Pull the string slack up through the brass tube and mark the string about 1/2 inch up from the top of the tube with a sharpie (You need to tie a knot in the string at this point.). Check to ensure that there is enough string from the top of the knot to the take up spook to allow the swing arm to fully drop to engage the down limit switch. If there is not, you'll need longer string.

Fixed it today and dont really know how. I eventually took apart the motor and checked the brushes and all contacts. Everything looked fine and when I put it back together everything worked. dont ya love it when someone asks how you fixed it and all you can answer is "I dont know"
