I'm sitting in a McDonald's in Maple Grove, MN at 5:45am waiting for 6:30 to roll around so I can head over to mnrocketry's place to pick up a game. Normally I wouldn't be on the road to pick up a game this early in the day but I had to drop my wife and kids at the MSP airport by about 5am... we got there at 4:30. So I think, and hope, 6:30am will be the earliest in the day I ever pick up a game. Anyone else ever pick up a game at a really obscenely early or late time? On the upside I took the day off of work so I get to go home after picking up the game and load it straight into my gameroom!

No, I think I'm just going to head straight back home. I'm still interested in the Qix but just deciding where it fits into my interest for my gameroom. I am also waiting on word from a local guy regarding a game which would tie up some cash right now if that works out.

So, here I am at home, eating my Cheerios, and waiting for 6:30 to roll around so that I can sell a game to bongoben before I head to work...

<grin>

Grabbed a game in Hillsboro, OH at 6AM a year ago. The sun was just creeping up. Was worth it, game is pretty rare and a personal favorite.

Earliest I have left home for a game was 6 am, twice. Once to drive to nebraska and back before a party (dk & ms pac) and another time because I had to go to the airport with my father in law beforehand (was going to be my first purchase, x-men but the seller sold it out from under me before I got to his place)

Not quite the same, but I went over to a Target about 25 minutes from my house at 4:45 in the morning the day that the Xbox 360 was released. A friend told me he had the hookup and we were both getting one...that friend lied. I ended up being 14th in line and they had 16 machines, so I did get one. Got my voucher for it and headed up to Burger King to eat breakfast, read the paper and kill some time until Target opened and I could buy it. Friend never even showed up and when I called him and told him I got one anyway, he said I should sell it to him cause he was the one who got me to go over there. Needless to say, I don't talk to him anymore.

...

Not sure if this counts as early, but I once got a phone call at midnight (after I was already asleep) that there were 50-100 arcade games in the street and we can take what we want. So we drove to downtown Orlando and filled a truck full of games.

I'm pretty sure I stayed in line all night for an Atari 7800 when it was released.

Arcade cab pickup? I grabbed one after work once. I had already paid for it via Paypal, and I worked until 1am that night. I loaded it at 1:30, and returned home at 3am. Not sure if that's late or early, but either way I was tired.

I remember when Wick came to get one of my games, he wanted to come at like 6AM or something to beat traffic. Knowing the commute to his place, I don't blame him!

I got home a couple hours ago and I'm exhausted. But the game's in the basement, dogs have been let out, and now it's time to crash for awhile. For the record... Alan (mnrocketry) has an insane Atari Vector collection. I would love to spend a few hours trying out some of the games I've never played before.

I left home at 3:00am one morning almost a year ago to meet my seller in Eugene OR to pick up my Revenge from Mars at 12:00pm...and drove back that same day. Got home about 11:00pm (had to stop to eat so that slowed us down). We were wiped out, but happy to finally have a RFM! My son went with me on this run and he loved it!

Thanks! Someday, I should host a get-together for the local KLOV'ers.

Nice meeting you, and have fun with your new game!

When I got my DK, I drove to CA the night before and slept on a friend's couch so that I could grab the game the following morning.

Last December, I left my house around 5am and drove to San Diego to get my Warlords cocktail.

Arcade adventures like those are a blast. I love it.

I was going to deliver a game in Sacramento at 6am on my way to cax this summer, but drove down the night before to avoid getting up at 3am.

I think I left at 5am to head to Redding to pick up Stunt Cycle.

I have had quite a few people pick up a game at midnight or later.

I had my Mario Bros wide body dropped off around 10pm by the guy I bought it from, and today I drove to a near by city (casa grande) in AZ to check out a vague CL listing:

Thursday, October 6th 2011 We are having a clearing out sale.

Some furniture,Pin Ball Machines, Donkey Kong Arcade Game, some Native American Indian Art, paintings, movies..and much more.

Will open door by 6:00 am..
The address is 108 west Main st. Casa Grande, Az 85122.

I got there at 5:40 am and picked up the working DK for $100 (i'll do another thread with details) and threw it in the Routan and headed home happy :)

they also had an Asteroids (pretty clean and working) and three pinballs: James Bond (the one with jaws on it), MARS, and some other pb I could not see, all the pb needed work and the James Bond had alot of issues.....just in case any locals wanted to check it out.

I grabbed his Neo Geo Cabaret cab that he created. See this thread:

forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=167119

The game looks 1000x better in real life than it even does in the pictures. Alan's attention to detail with the art on this thing was spectacular. A NG cab is in my top 5 so now I have 2 of my top 5 in mini form. I actually had a big NG cab I got in trade from smalltownguy2 a month ago but with my new obsession for mini cabs I couldn't pass this up. I actually sent Alan a PM out of the blue about the cab saying "if you ever decide to sell it..." and now it's in my basement. :) And the NG cab I got from smalltownguy2 is going to be traded this Saturday for another mini.

NICE pick up. Can't beat a $100 working DK.
