I have the opportunity to buy a Dynamo Showcase cabinet for $80. It has a shooter installed with two guns, but the screen is black (playing blind). They said they recently moved the cab from one location to another and the monitor stopped working. They don't have the money or experience to fix it. Also, do you think a Showcase will fit in the back of a Chrysler Town and Country minivan? The biggest cab I have hauled so far is a Z-back.

Honestly it sounds high considering the monitor doesn't work. I guess it comes down to what game is in it and its resale value.

Those things are beasts to move and it's not unheard of for them to be given away for free because of it.

It has Police Trainer in it. That is my main concern, how difficult it would be to move. Maybe I will just offer less and see how it goes. He needs it gone by this weekend.

It breaks down into two parts. Both are on wheels but both parts are still pretty big. Also, depending on monitor size it, they are very top heavy and difficult to lay down.

there's someone here in atlanta(saw it on craigslist) trying to sell a working showcase cab with MVC1 in it for $400. The CPS2 board might make it worth it but I can't have such a space hog and I'd rather have a smaller dynamo or a converted World Warrior for those games.

I guess I will wait and see how low he is willing to go. If I have to make two trips I probably would not pay more than $40. My wife loves the shooting games. I have 3 cabinets I am restoring and she isn't having another cabinet unless it is a shooter...lol. Would the guns work with a CRT television, or only with an arcade monitor? I was thinking I could swap the monitor with a 32" TV if the monitor isn't a simple fix.

I believe they can actually break down to 4 different parts. Monitor box, the stand for the monitor, the control panel stand, and the control panel. Well atleast mine does.

I'm not sure how the gun games work with regular tv's.. but i'm sure someone else can chime in on that.

Thanks everyone. Is it difficult, or time consuming to break it down like that? Do you know the height of the monitor tower fully assembled? If I can fit that in the back, then I could probably just separate the control panel and base for it to fit.

This is the actual cabinet:

That actually breaks down into 4 parts. The marquee box on top comes off, the control pedestal unbolts and pulls away, and the monitor section unbolts and comes off the pedestal where the power supply and PCB mounts.

The heaviest part by far is the monitor section.

It's a Dynamo HS-15 and here is the manual for it: http://www.drzero.org/videogames/dynamo/Showcase.pdf

Even with it broken down into the 4 parts I had to have a small truck + trailer to fit it all. The thing is a beast.

edit: I should have read first, I concur with RenegadeFred as I have this cabinet in black.

I couldn't wait to get rid of my showcase cab LOL Room sucker...Would rather have a sit down driving game.

IMHO those things are only good for makeshift Mame cabs. Don't know how I got mine to the basement, but it stays with that house if i ever leave it.

Buy it only if you have the room and want to fix it.. but that space would be better utilized with a different game/cab.

The monitor section as stated by jigz is the heaviest part. If my monitor ever goes out, i'm replacing it with an LCD TV instead. There is no way i'm hauling that thing out of the cab, up the stairs to be repaired.. and then back down and in. It'll go out the door to the curb.

I'll be home in less than an hour and can get any measurements you need. There is no chance to fit that in a Town and Country in one go. It *might* be possible with 2 or 3 trips but the pieces are heavy and awkward shapes. Just the piece that houses the monitor took up the entire bed of an S10.

Would one of you be willing to measure the height of the back tower and width of the base of the tower?

I would really appreciate it.

Thanks! You guys are starting to scare me...LOL.

As already stated by others. The only reason why I do not have one is because of it's weight. Size.... I could live with. This happens to be one of my favorite cabs.

People who own these are 9/10 a fighter player *raises hand* and/or mames it for a multi player mame cab. *wich I would do*

Sadly, nobody ever points out the good things of this cab.

1. Usually came with a 30+" monitor that had great picture quality
2. Big loud speakers
3. Plenty of elbow room
4. Can easily be made into a 4 player cab without the crazy look of a flight deck on a smaller cab.
5. Super sturdy, and can be broken down for easier movent.
6. Displays any game, and most artwork real nicely.

Other wise yeah, 1 or 2 con vice 6 pros IMHO.

it does fit in a Honda Odyssey. it's going to be very tight. I had to move the front seats all the way up.

How did you stack the other pieces, did you take the control panel off of its base? Remove the old marquee box? I think I have about 76, or 78 inches from back of the front seat to the tailgate of the van.

Marquee Box
29.25" W x 9.5" H x 9.25" D

Monitor Section
48" W x 29" H x 26" D

Monitor Base
33.25" W x 41.5" H x 32" D

Control Panel
48" W x 39" H x 29" D

So, if you take off the marquee on top and detatch the control panel section you are looking at 48" W x 70.5" H x 32" D

Hope this helps.
