Does anyone happen to know the part number or specs for the optical sensors in the dynamo air hockey tables? $70 seems like a lot of money to replace a small PCB when I can just swap the optic, but I can't seem to find a part number for it.

Thanks in advance!

Nope, sorry don't know the number of the individual LED or phototransistor on the optical board.

The Dynamo parts manuals only call out part numbers for the complete optical board assembly.

Yeah, that was all I could find as well. I was hoping maybe someone had replaced one before.

Call tech support. They have been helpful in giving me individual component part numbers before.
Are you sure the issue is with one of those parts?

I had an issue at times with my sensor. The black plastic sleeve was cracked on one of them. The tech didn't think that would cause an issue, but I flipped it around so the split was at the bottom and haven't had any problems since.

No cracks on the sleeve. I tested the board on both sides - the board is definitely the issue. All of the parts on the board seem to test ok except for the optic.

I'll try calling tech support after the holidays and see what happens. Thanks!

And don't forget to check that board for cold solder joints. All that slamming/vibration from the puck tends to shake loose the solder.

Reviving a really old thread ...

I had a Dynamo table go down last weekend with a broken leg on the receiver.

I keep a supply of QED123 and QSD123 optos/receivers for pinball repair. These worked
find on the sensor board but you also have to raise the value of the resistor to 390 ohms
or the LED will be too bright and keep the sensor always triggered.
